Hardie Davis (born December 5,1968) is an American politician who has served as the Mayor of consolidated Augusta-Richmond County,Georgia from January 1,2015,to December 31,2022. He was the second African American elected mayor of Augusta since the city and county governments consolidated in 1996. He previously served in the Georgia House of Representatives from the 122nd district from 2007 to 2009 and in the Georgia State Senate from the 22nd district from 2010 to 2014. [1] [2]

Following an election in 1995,Augusta consolidated governments with Richmond County. The consolidated entity is known as Augusta-Richmond County,or simply Augusta. Exempt are the cities of Hephzibah and Blythe,in southern Richmond County,which voted to remain separate. Richmond County is included in the Augusta-Richmond County,GA-SC metropolitan statistical area.

The elections coincided with the 2020 U.S. presidential election,as well as other elections to the House of Representatives,elections to the United States Senate and various state and local elections.
The Augusta-Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) Vietnam War Veterans Memorial is a granite and bronze monument placed in Augusta,Georgia,March 29,2019,to honor the CSRA's 169 Vietnam War dead,three Ex-Prisoners of War (Vietnam),and one former Missing in Action (MIA) as well as the region's 15,000 surviving Vietnam War Veterans. The memorial is located in the "Olde Town" section of Augusta,Georgia,on the Broad Street median between Third and Fourth Streets. The monument was designed,purchased,and placed by the Augusta Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW) and the chapter's 17 community partners who made up the Augusta-CSRA Vietnam War Memorial Initiative (VWMI) Steering Committee.

Incumbent Republican Governor Brian Kemp won re-election to a second term,defeating Democratic nominee Stacey Abrams in a rematch. Abrams conceded on election night. The primary occurred on May 24,2022. Kemp was sworn in for a second term on January 9,2023.
