The Bahujan Samaj Party is a political party in India that was formed to represent Bahujans,referring to Scheduled Castes,Scheduled Tribes,and Other Backward Classes (OBC),along with religious minorities. According to Kanshi Ram,when he founded the party in 1984,the Bahujans comprised 85 percent of India's population,but were divided into 6,000 different castes. The party claims to be inspired by the philosophy of B. R. Ambedkar,Jyotiba Phule,Narayana Guru,Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj,and Gautama Buddha.
The 2012 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly election were the 3rd Vidhan Sabha election of the state of Uttarakhand in India. Elections were held on 30 January 2012 when Indian National Congress emerged as the largest party with 32 seats in the 70-seat legislature and formed the government with the help of Progressive Democratic Front alliance. The Bharatiya Janata Party with 31 seats served as the official opposition.
Gutiyari Lal Duwesh is an Indian politician and member of the 15th and the 16th Legislative assemblies of Uttar Pradesh. Neeraj Kushwaha Maurya is a leader of Samajwadi Party &Hon'ble Member of Parliament from Aonla Lok Sabha Constituency,Aonla,Uttar Pradesh. He is a former member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Initially,he was associated with Bahujan Samaj Party and has been an MLA from 2007 to 2017,elected twice from Jalalabad constituency in 2007 and 2012. In 2017,he left the BSP to join the Bharatiya Janata Party and played a key role in the Jalalabad Nagar Palika election. But he left the party soon afterwards and finally joined SP in 2022.

Ritesh Pandey is an Indian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament from Ambedkar Nagar constituency. He was a member of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) from the state of Uttar Pradesh. Pandey resigned from Bahujan Samaj Party and joined Bharatiya Janata Party in February 2024. He was also a MLA from Jalalpur constituency in Ambedkar Nagar district,which he represented between June 2017 and May 2019 before elected as MP in. He was appointed the Leader of the BSP in the Lok Sabha in January 2020. Prior to this appointment,he served as the Deputy Leader. According to his election filing he has 30 crores as his assets.

Narayan Das Ahirwar is an Indian politician from the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Lok Sabha Member of Parliament representing Jalaun. He also served as minister in the Uttar Pradesh Government from 2007 to 2011. Ahirwar had started politics in 1982 inspired by Kanshi Ram and joined DSSSS. He was a founding member of the Bahujan Samaj Party and served in many organisational roles of the party. He became dissatisfied with the party policy after 2014,stopped taking major responsibilities and later started aligning with SP,helped strengthen it and officially joined the party in 2022. He contested as the SP and INDIA alliance candidate from Jalaun (SC) in the 2024 general election and was elected.
