Harlowton Public Schools is a public school district headquartered in Harlowton, Montana. It operates two schools: Hillcrest Elementary School and Harlowton High School.
The district primarily serves students in Harlowton and the surrounding communities of Duncan Ranch Colony, Martinsdale Colony, Shawmut, Springwater Colony, and Twodot. [1] The service area covers most of central Wheatland County, a rural region of central Montana.
As a small rural district, Harlowton Public Schools provides a general academic program aligned with Montana state standards. Students have access to core subjects in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Electives in fine arts, music, and vocational education are also available.[ citation needed ] The high school participates in distance-learning initiatives that connect students with courses not otherwise available locally.[ citation needed ]
Harlowton High School competes in athletics under the name Engineers. The district is a member of the Montana High School Association (MHSA).
