Harpal Talhan (born February 8, 1965) is a retired Canadian lightweight boxer who contested in 18 fights and was the Canadian lightweight champion.
He currently resides in Surrey, B.C.-married with 3 children and is a businessman.
He fought in Canada and the US, including boxing in Las Vegas. In 1990, he took on the holder of the Canadian lightweight title John Kalbhenn in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and beat him to become the new Canadian lightweight champion.

Alexis Argüello was a Nicaraguan professional boxer who competed from 1968 to 1995, and later became a politician. He was a three-weight world champion, having held the WBA featherweight title from 1974 to 1976; the WBC super featherweight title from 1978 to 1980; and the WBC lightweight title from 1981 to 1982. Additionally, he held the Ring magazine and lineal featherweight titles from 1975 to 1977; the Ring lightweight title from 1981 to 1982; and the lineal lightweight title in 1982. In his later career he challenged twice for light welterweight world titles, both times in famous fights against Aaron Pryor.

Arturo Gatti was an Italian Canadian professional boxer who competed from 1991 to 2007. A world champion in two weight classes, Gatti held the IBF junior lightweight title from 1995 to 1998, and the WBC super lightweight title from 2004 to 2005. He also participated in The Ring magazine's Fight of the Year a total of four times. He announced his retirement on July 14, 2007. After his death in 2009, Gatti was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame on December 10, 2012, in his first year of eligibility, becoming the tenth Canadian boxer to be so inducted.

Joe Gans was an American professional boxer. Gans was rated the greatest lightweight boxer of all-time by boxing historian and Ring Magazine founder, Nat Fleischer. Known as the "Old Master", he became the first African-American world boxing champion of the 20th century, reigning continuously as world lightweight champion from 1902–1908, defending the title 15 times versus 13 boxers. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990.
Gabriel "Flash" Elorde was a Filipino professional boxer. He won the lineal super featherweight title in 1960. In 1963, he won the inaugural WBC and WBA super featherweight titles. He holds the record at super featherweight division for longest title reign, spanning seven years. Elorde is considered one of the best Filipino boxers of all time along with eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao and Pancho Villa, flyweight champion in the 1920s. He was much beloved in the Philippines as a sports and cultural icon, being the first Filipino international boxing champion since middleweight champion Ceferino Garcia.

William Irwin (born 20 May 1968 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, nicknamed "Billy the Kid", is a retired Canadian amateur lightweight and professional light/light welter/welterweight boxer of the 1990s and 2000s who as an amateur won a bronze medal in the Boxing at the 1991 Pan American Games in Havana, Cuba, losing to eventual silver medal winner Patrice Brooks of the United States, represented Canada at the 1991 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Sydney, Australia losing to Julien Lorcy of France, and represented Canada at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, he was stopped in the second round of the lightweight division by Ronald Chavez of the Philippines, and as a professional won the Canadian Professional Boxing Council lightweight title, Canada lightweight title, International Boxing Organization lightweight title, World Boxing Council Continental Americas lightweight title, and Commonwealth lightweight title, and was a challenger for the International Boxing Federation lightweight title against Paul Spadafora, and World Boxing Association World lightweight title against Juan Díaz, his professional fighting weight varied from 133+1⁄2 lb, i.e. lightweight to 142 lb, i.e. welterweight.
Howard Grant is a retired male Canadian boxer, competing in the light-welterweight division. A resident of Montréal, Quebec, he represented Canada at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, where he was defeated in the round of 16 by Sweden's Lars Myrberg.
Yordenis Ugás Hernández is a Cuban professional boxer who has held the WBA (Super) welterweight title from January 2021 to April 2022, having previously held the WBA (Regular) title from 2020 until being elevated to Super champion. Katie Taylor is an Irish professional boxer and former footballer. She is a two-weight world champion and the current undisputed lightweight champion, having held the WBA title since 2017; the IBF title since 2018; and the WBC, WBO, and The Ring magazine titles since 2019, as well as having held the WBO junior-welterweight title in 2019. Teófimo Andrés López Rivera is an American professional boxer. As an amateur, he represented Honduras at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Terri Harper is a British professional boxer and former super-featherweight world champion, having held the IBO female title from 2019 to November 2021 and the WBC version from 2020 to November 2021. Following a brief amateur career, Harper made her professional debut in 2017. She won her first championship two years later, capturing the regional WBC International female lightweight title in 2019. Later that year she moved down a weight class to the super-featherweight division to win her first world championship, the vacant IBO title, and added the WBC title to her collection the following year after defeating long-reigning champion Eva Wahlström. With her victory over Wahlström, Harper became the second British woman after Nicola Adams to hold a major world championship.
