Harry Pinchin (born May 25, 1935) is a retired Canadian trumpeter, composer and conductor. [1] [2] [3] [4]
Harry Pinchin was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. After joining the Canadian Armed Forces in his twenties, Pinchin moved to Edmonton, Alberta as a member of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry Band. [5]
In the 1950s, Pinchin performed with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra as principal trumpet player. [5] In 1963, Harry Pinchin founded the Cosmopolitan Music Society in Edmonton. Throughout his musical career, Pinchin collaborated with Canadian composer Tommy Banks; for example, in 1981 Pinchin provided harp and percussion arranging for the soundtrack of Roger Tilton's film Pilots North , of which Banks was the principal score composer. In December 2006, Harry Pinchin retired as musical director of the Cosmopolitan Music Society. [5]

The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra (ESO) is a Canadian orchestra based in Edmonton, Alberta. As the professional orchestra of Alberta's creative capital city it presents over 85 concerts a year of symphonic music in all genres, from classical to country. The Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band is a British brass band formed in 1881. The band is based in Brighouse, in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England. The Royal Canadian Artillery Band is one of six Regular Force bands in the Canadian Armed Forces. The Cosmopolitan Music Society is a music education non-profit organization in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It was created at a time when school bands were few and far between, and opportunities to learn and perform music outside of a professional setting were limited in the region. Since its inception, CMS has sought to make the learning of music more broadly accessible to the local community, providing opportunities for members to develop their skills from seasoned professionals and perform at a wide range of local events.

He performed and recorded with many orchestras and bands over his lifetime, including a 20-year tenure as the Section Principal Trumpet of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
