Harshita Swami Baghel (born 1987) is an Indian politician from Chhattisgarh. She is an MLA from Dongargarh Assembly constituency, which is reserved for Scheduled Caste community, in Rajnandgaon District. She won the 2023 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election representing the Indian National Congress. [1] [2]

Early life and education

Baghel is from Dongargarh, Rajnandgaon District, Chhattisgarh. She married Manish Baghel, a government medical officer. She completed her M.A. and L.L.B. in 2019 at Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur. [3]

Career

Baghel won from Dongargarh Assembly constituency representing the Indian National Congress in the 2023 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election. She polled 89,145 votes and defeated her nearest rival, Vinod Khandekar of the Bharatiya Janata Party, by a margin of 14,367 votes. [4] [5] [6]

Elections to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly were held on 28 November 2018 to elect members of the 230 constituencies in Madhya Pradesh. The election was a direct political battle between the BJP and the INC. One of the main centers of attraction was the contest between Congress heavy-weight Arun Yadav and the then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. While the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government had tried to win for consecutive 4th term, the INC fought for winning the state after 2003.
