Hasjim Djalal is a former Indonesian Ambassador to Germany, Canada, and the United Nations. [1]

Biography

Djalal was born in Ampek Angkek, Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, on 25 February 1934. [2] He is an international law of the sea expert, [3] [4] and the former chairman and president of the International Seabed Authority. [5] He received his Masters of Law from the University of Virginia, where he was the university's first Indonesian student. [6] Djalal is the father of Dino Patti Djalal, the former Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister. [7]

A series of bombings occurred on 1 October 2005 in Bali, Indonesia. Bombs were detonated at two sites in Jimbaran Beach resort and in Kuta 30 km (19 mi) away, both in south Bali. The attack claimed the lives of 20 people and injured more than 100 others. The attack was known in Indonesia as the second Bali bombing to distinguish it from the 2002 attacks.

David Huebner is an international arbitrator based in Southern California. He previously served as the United States Ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa. He was the first openly gay ambassador in the Obama administration and the third openly gay ambassador in United States history. His tenure was marked by significant improvement in bilateral relations, with commentators observing that relations are stronger and closer than they have been in decades.
