Hassan Ali Abokor (Somali :Xasan Cali Abokor) was first chief of staff of the Somaliland Armed Forces. As of 2024,he is the only national military commander who is not Habr Awal branch. [1]
Hassan Ali Abokor is from the Habr Je'lo branch of the Isaaq clan. [2]
On May 27 1988,he was one of the Somali National Movement (SNM) commanders,along with Mohamed Kahin Ahmed and Axmed Mirre,when the SNM captured Burco. [3] Later,Adan Salebaan (Ma-Gube) became army commander and Hassan Ali Abokor became deputy commander. [4]
In 1993,Hassan Ali Abokor was appointed by the President of Somaliland as the first commander of the Somaliland Armed Forces. [5] [6]
In 1994,he created the formal Somaliland National Army with General Abdisamad Gamgam under Army Chief of Staff Muse Bihi Abdi. [7]
In 1996 he was replaced as commander by Osman Awad Hashi (Osman Dacas). [5]
In November 2006,Hassan Ali Abokor expressed his condolences on the passing of Hassan Yonis Habane. [8]
In November 2010,he was reported as a leading candidate for Director of National Intelligence, [9] but was ultimately replaced by Maxamed Nuur Xirsi. [10]
In February 2016,at the celebration of the 22nd anniversary of the creation of the National Armed Forces,he was named by the President of Somaliland as one of the first seven people to have contributed to the National Armed Forces. [11]
In February 2017,at a ceremony marking the 23rd anniversary of the creation of the national army,the president of Somaliland praised him by name. [12]
Awdal is an administrative region (gobol) in western Somaliland. It was separated from Woqooyi Galbeed and became a province in 1984 and is the most northwesterly province of Somaliland. To the east it borders Maroodi Jeex and Sahil;to its north-west it borders Djibouti;to its south and south-west lies Ethiopia;and the Gulf of Aden to its north. The province has an estimated population of 1,010,566. The region comprises the four districts of Borama,the regional capital,Baki,Lughaya,and Zeila.
The Somaliland National Armed Forces are the military services of the Republic of Somaliland. The Somaliland National Armed Forces consist of the Somaliland National Army,the Somaliland Coast Guard,the Somaliland Police Force,the Somaliland Custodial Corps,the Somaliland Immigration and Border Control and the Somaliland Fire Brigade. There is no air force. The Armed Forces is under the command of President Muse Bihi Abdi,who is the Commander-in-chief. Minister of Defence Dr. Rooble Muuse Abdi is the designated minister that oversees the armed forces.

Somali Broadcasting Corporation reports in 2019 that Dhahar is a town effectively controlled by Somaliland. One Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust,an NHS Foundation Trust in England,researcher describes Dhahar as a district in Puntland in 2014.

General Mohamed Hasan Abdullahi also known as "Jidhif" was a chief of staff of the Somaliland Armed Forces. He hails from the Jibril Abokor,a Sa'ad Musa sub-division of the Habr Awal Isaaq clan. In the 1980s,he joined the Somali National Movement. Before being appointed as the chief of staff,he was head of Mercy Corps in Somaliland.
