Mohamed Kahin Ahmed (Somali :Maxamed Kaahin Axmed) is a Somaliland politician and former military officer of the Somali National Movement Ahmed silaanyo the chairman of (SNM )appointed Mohamed kaahin SNM Commander-in-Chief of the Army,in April 1988. He is currently serving as the Minister of Interior of Somaliland since December 2017. He has been a prominent member of the Kulmiye Party since its foundation,and served as the deputy chairman of the party from July 2010 to December 2017. [3] [4]
Mohamed Kahin Ahmed was born in Burao,capital of the Togdheer region of Somaliland. He completed his primary and Quranic education in Beer in southern Togdheer. He completed his higher education at Burao Technical Institute. [5] He belongs to the Habr Je'lo clan of the wider Isaaq clan-family. [6]
He joined the Somali National Army in 1970. [5] He served in the Somali military intelligence 26th Division base in Hargaisa.
Kahin served as the Somali National Movement's minister of defence and later on as the first Somaliland Minister of Defence in 1991. [7] [8]
Burao, also spelt Bur'o or Bur'ao, is the capital of the Togdheer region and the second largest city in Somaliland. Burao was the site of the declaration of an independent Somaliland on 18 May 1991.

The Isaaq is a major Somali clan. It is one of the largest Somali clan families in the Horn of Africa, with a large and densely populated traditional territory.
Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud, known by his nickname Silanyo, was a Somaliland politician who served as the President of Somaliland from 2010 to 2017.
