Adan Ahmed Elmi (Somali :Aden Axmed Cilmi) was the 4th Agricultural Minister of Somaliland. He became the Agricultural Minister on May 10,2002,after the resignation of Ali Sheik Yusuf.
Elmi was born in Hargeisa,and spent his childhood in Mogadishu and Hargeisa . He hails from Gashanbur Eidagale Garhajis sub-clan of the Somali Isaaq clan.
Before his appointment to the Somaliland parliament,he was widely known for his comic Somali films,which were released in the late 1990s. In 2001,he joined the UDUB political party.
Elmi is the son of Ahmed Elmi,a military commander during the Siad Barre years,now deceased. His mother,Khadija Mohamoud,owns fruit company in eastern Hargeisa. Belonging to the extended Dhoolayare family,he has three siblings,all of whom reside abroad.

The Arap or Arab clan is a major clan of the wider Isaaq clan family and is the twin of Garhajis (Ismail),according to the clan genealogy. The Arap predominantly live on the middle and southwest side of Hargeisa and in the Baligubadle district of Somaliland,with its capital Baligubadle being an exclusively Arap territory. The territory of the clan extends to Ethiopia,in the area of Baligubadle. The Abdalle Arap,a sub-clan of the Arap clan is based in the Togdheer,Sool Hargeisa and Sahil regions.
The Eidagale (Ciidagale),Arabic:عيدَغَلي,,Full Name:Da'ud ibn Al-QādhīIsmā'īl ibn ash-Shaykh Isḥāq ibn Aḥmad,is a major Somali clan and is a sub-division of the Garhajis clan of the Isaaq clan family. Members of this clan are concentrated in the western portions of Somaliland. The Eidagale are part of the four principal clans of the Isaaq clan family. They are the traditional holders of the Isaaq Sultanate since the 18th century. As descendants of Ismail bin Sheikh Isaaq,its members form a part of the Habar Magaadle confederation,and they constitute the largest sub-clan of the Isaaq. They are traditionally nomadic pastoralists,merchants and skilled poets.

Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud "Silanyo" is a Somaliland politician who was President of Somaliland from 2010–2017. He is a long-time member of the government,having served as Minister of Commerce of the Somali Republic,and among other Cabinet positions. During the 1980s,he also served as the Chairman of the Somali National Movement.

They are historically viewed as an affluent clan relative to other Somali clans. The Habr Awal are politically and economically influential in present-day Somaliland,and reside in strategic coastal and fertile lands.
Saleban Essa Ahmed "Haglotosiye",is a prominent Somali politician who was the leader of the SSC Movement and served as Somaliland's Minister of Health.
Dr. Saad Ali Shire Naleye is British-Somaliland politician,agronomist and economist,who is currently serving as the Minister of Finance of Somaliland. Shire formerly served as the Foreign Minister of Somaliland. He is also served as the Minister of Planning and National Development of Somaliland. He is a founder member of many academic institutions and professional associations including The University of Hargeisa,the University of Burao,Somaliland Society of Agriculture,Somaliland Economics Association,Somaliland Statistics Association,and Somaliland Society of UK.
The Issa Musa or ‘Isa Musa is a northern Somali clan. Its members form a part of the Habr Awal clan of the Isaaq clan family. The Isa Musa are divided into four major sub-clans:Mohammed Issa,Adam Issa,Abokor Issa and Idarais Issa. The Isa Musa traditionally consists of coastal people,nomadic pastoralist and merchants. This clan are primarily settled in Somaliland,including Maroodi Jeex,Togdheer,Sahil,Ethiopia,as well as Kenya. The Issa Musse have produced many prominent Somali figures with the Undersecretary General of the United Nations Abdulrahim Abby Farah,the first Somali Prime Minister &second President of Somaliland Muhammad Haji Ibrahim Egal,current Ctrack Middle East Sales Manager Abdul Wahab Jama Abdi and the second tallest man in the world Hussein Bisad.
Mohamed Hashi Elmi is a Somali politician who served as the Minister of Finance of Somaliland from July 2010 to March 2012. He is the former mayor of Hargeisa from 1993 to 1996.
Madar Ahmed Shirwac,better known as Sheikh Madar was a 19th-century Somali political/religious leader,a social reformer,merchant and a jurist that was instrumental in the modern foundation of Hargeisa. He hailed from the Yunis Nuh division of the wider Sacad Muuse Habr Awal Isaaq clan. His tomb is now a venerated Sufi shrine in the city.

The Farah Garad or the Garad Farah is a Somali clan which is part of the Dhulbahante clan-family,a sub-division of the larger Harti/Darod clan. The Farah Garad are divided into two sub-clans —Yassin Garad and Abdalla Garad. Abdalla has three clan eponyms,Ahmed Garad,Baharsame and Barkad. The large chief caaqil agglomerations including Ararsame,or the Ali Gheri xeer group,. And Yassin Dia Group.
Abdikarim Ahmed Mooge Liibaan is a Somaliland politician and is the current Mayor of Hargeisa,the largest city and capital of Somaliland. He belongs to the Eidagale sub-division of the Garhajis Isaaq clan.
The Abaskuul,Abasguul,Abasgul or Abaskul is a Somali sub-clan of the Jidwaaq,Absame,Kumade,Kablalah,Darod line. The Abaskuul mainly reside between Jigjiga and Degahbur in the Somali Region in Ethiopia,but also have settlements in Jubaland (Somalia) and Kenya. They share borders with the Ogaden,Bartire,and Habar Awal clans. The Abaskuul were famously described in Richard Burton's First Footsteps in East Africa, as well as 17 Trips to Somaliland and a Visit to Abyssinia by Captain Harald G. C. Swayne.
