Haunted 3D: Ghosts of the Past is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language supernatural horror film written and directed by Vikram Bhatt. It is produced by Anand Pandit along with Rakesh Juneja and Shwetambari Bhatt, and stars Mahaakshay Chakraborty, Chetna Pande and Shruti Prakash. [1] [2]
The film is described as a spiritual successor to the 2011 film Haunted – 3D and is marketed as India’s first production to combine 3D technology with augmented reality (AR) elements. [3]
The film follows a man who seeks isolation in a remote mansion in the mountains of India in an attempt to escape his traumatic past. He soon realises that the house is haunted by malevolent forces connected to dark secrets from his own life. [4]
The film was officially announced in early 2025, marking a reunion between Vikram Bhatt, producer Anand Pandit and writer Mahesh Bhatt. [7] Bhatt clarified that while the film carries the Haunted title, it is not a direct sequel but a standalone story set in the same thematic universe. [8]
Following the release of the teaser, the makers undertook around 12 days of additional shooting at real locations to enhance the quality of the 3D visuals and replace green-screen sequences. [9]
Production was briefly paused in late 2025 due to personal bereavements in the director’s family. [10]
It is scheduled to be theatrically released in both 3D and 2D formats on 6 February 2026. [11]
Digital streaming rights were acquired for a post-theatrical release expected to begin in April 2026. [12]
