U.S. Route 425 (US 425) is a north–south United States highway that travels in the U.S. states of Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas. It was first commissioned in 1989.
Kaimū was a small town in the Puna District on Island of Hawaiʻi that was completely destroyed by an eruptive flow of lava from the Kūpaʻianahā vent of the Kīlauea volcano in 1990. In Hawaiian, kai mū means "gathering [at the] sea" as to watch surfing. The lava flow that destroyed Kaimū and nearby Kalapana erupted from the southeast rift zone of Kīlauea.
Kalapana is a town and a region in the Puna District on the Island of Hawaiʻi in the Hawaiian Islands. The town was the original location of the Star of the Sea Painted Church.
Route 200, known locally as Saddle Road, traverses the width of the Island of Hawaiʻi, from downtown Hilo to its junction with Hawaii Route 190 near Waimea. The road was once considered one of the most dangerous paved roads in the state, with many one-lane bridges and areas of marginally maintained pavement. Most of the road has now been repaved, and major parts have new re-alignments to modern standards. The highway is mostly one-lane in each direction, but there are two lanes on the uphill portions. The highway reaches a maximum elevation of 6,632 feet (2,021 m) and is subject to fog and low visibility. Many rental car companies used to prohibit use of their cars on Saddle Road, but now allow use of the road. The highway experiences heavy use as it provides the shortest driving route from Hilo to Kailua-Kona and access to the slopes of Mauna Loa and the Mauna Kea Observatories.
Puʻu ʻŌʻō is a volcanic cone on the eastern rift zone of Kīlauea volcano in the Hawaiian Islands. The eruption that created Puʻu ʻŌʻō began on January 3, 1983, and continued nearly continuously until April 30, 2018, making it the longest-lived rift-zone eruption of the last two centuries.
Puna is one of the 9 districts of Hawaii County on the Island of Hawaiʻi. It is located on the windward side of the island and shares borders with South Hilo district in the north and Kaʻū district in the west. With a size of just under 320,000 acres (1,300 km2) or 500 sq. miles, Puna is slightly smaller than the island of Kauaʻi.
The ʻAkoni Pule Highway, designated as Hawaiʻi Route 270, is a state highway in Hawaii County, Hawaii, United States, that is the main road along the North Kohala Coast on the Island of Hawaiʻi from Kawaihae to ʻUpolu Point and then on to Pololū Valley Lookout. The entire route is 27.0 miles (43.5 km) long.
The Hawaiʻi Belt Road is a modern name for the Māmalahoa Highway and consists of Hawaiʻi state Routes 11, 19, and 190 that encircle the Island of Hawaiʻi. The southern section, between Hilo and Kailua-Kona is numbered as Route 11. The section between Hilo and Waimea is Route 19. Between Waimea and Kailua-Kona, the road is split in two: the original "mauka" route and a "makai" Route 19, completed in 1975, which serves as access to the Kona and Kohala Coast resorts. In the Hawaiian language, mauka means "towards the mountain" and makai means "towards the sea". These terms are commonly used in travel directions.
New York State Route 124 (NY 124) is a 4.96-mile (7.98 km) long north–south state highway in the northern part of Westchester County, New York, in the United States. NY 124 begins at NY 137 in the hamlet of Pound Ridge. It heads north and crosses into the town of Lewisboro, ending west of the hamlet of South Salem at NY 35. Just before the junction with NY 35, NY 124 splits into a west leg and an east leg, with both legs ending at NY 35. Both legs are signed as NY 124 but the main line officially runs on the west leg. The east leg is internally designated as NY 983D, an unsigned reference route. Both legs are approximately 0.35 miles (0.56 km) in length.
New York State Route 172 (NY 172) is an 8.89-mile (14.31 km) state highway in Westchester County, New York, in the United States. The route runs from NY 117 in the village of Mount Kisco east to the hamlet of Pound Ridge at NY 137.
New York State Route 29A (NY 29A) is a state highway in the western portion of the Capital District of New York in the United States. The western terminus of the route is at an intersection with NY 29 in the Herkimer County hamlet of Salisbury Center. Its eastern end is at another junction with NY 29 about 36 miles (58 km) to the east near the Fulton County hamlet of Vail Mills. NY 29A enters Gloversville via Rose Street and continues through downtown on Fulton Street.
State Route 247 (SR 247) is a 30.49-mile (49.07 km) long north–south state highway in the southern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. SR 247 has its southern terminus at a dead end overlooking the Ohio River 0.35 miles (0.56 km) south of its junction with U.S. Route 52 (US 52), nearly 4.75 miles (7.64 km) northeast of Manchester. The northern terminus of SR 247 is at a signalized intersection with State Route 73 in Hillsboro.
Route 56, also known as Kuhio Highway, is the main highway on the north and east shore of Kauaʻi island in Kauai County, Hawaii, United States.
Wyoming Highway 130 is a 98.52-mile-long (158.55 km) state highway in the U.S. State of Wyoming. It is known locally as the Snowy Range Road. It makes its way west from Laramie across the plains, and rises over the Medicine Bow Mountains. The road then turns north through the town of Saratoga, and ends at Interstate 80 (I-80). The stretch of road over the mountains is a National Forest Byway. WYO 130 over Snowy Range Pass is closed during winter (November–May).
State Route 137 (SR 137) is a short north–south state highway in the southwestern portion of Ohio. Its southern terminus is at a T-intersection with SR 136 in Cherry Fork, and its northern terminus is another T-intersection, this time with SR 247 just south of Seaman.
Highway 150 is a 14.19-mile-long (22.84 km) east–west state highway in Mississippi County, Arkansas. The route runs from Highway 181 north of Gosnell east across US Route 61 (US 61) and Interstate 55 (I-55) to Highway 137 at Huffman.
Highway 301 is a north–south state highway in Pike County, Arkansas. The route of 22.90 miles (36.85 km) runs from Highway 26/Highway 27 in Murfreesboro through rural Pike County to Highway 29 in Antoine.
U.S. Highway 71 is a U.S. highway that runs from Krotz Springs, LA to the Fort Frances–International Falls International Bridge at the Canadian border. In Arkansas, the highway runs from the Louisiana state line near Doddridge to the Missouri state line near Bella Vista. In Texarkana, the highway runs along State Line Avenue with US 59 and partially runs in Texas. Other areas served by the highway include Fort Smith and Northwest Arkansas.
State Route 104 (SR 104) is a 34.9-mile-long (56.2 km) state highway located in Kennebec and Somerset counties in central Maine. Its southern terminus is at SR 8, SR 11 and SR 27 in Augusta. Its northern terminus is at U.S. Route 2 (US 2), US 201 and US 201A in Skowhegan.
Route 137 is a state highway in Hawaii County, Hawaii. The highway, known as the Kapoho-Kalapana Road, the Beach Road, or the Red Road, travels along the eastern coast of the island of Hawaii between Kalapana and Kapoho. It passes near Kīlauea and its lava fields, as well as Isaac Hale Beach Park and other protected areas.
