James R. "Duke" Aiona Jr., is an American politician and jurist who served as the tenth lieutenant governor of Hawaii from 2002 to 2010. A Republican, he also served both as an attorney and a judge for the state prior to becoming lieutenant governor.

Ultimately, Lingle won out over Hirono in one of the state's closest gubernatorial elections, allowing her to become the first Republican Governor of Hawaii since 1962 and the state's first female Governor ever.

Solomon consecutively served from December 21, 2010 until 2013 in the District 1 seat where she was appointed by Governor Neil Abercrombie to fill the vacancy caused by the appointment of Dwight Takamine as Hawaii Director of the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.
