Hayda Nourdine Sidi (born January 1977) is a Comorian politician. She has been a member of the Assembly of the Union of the Comoros since 2020.
Hayda Nourdine Sidi was born in January 1977 in Mutsamudu on Anjouan. She attended the Neimane private school in Mutsamudu for secondary education,followed by higher education at the Institute of Science and Commerce of Antananarivo in Madagascar. She then worked in telecommunications,as the manager of a company providing audio-visual services via satellite. [1]
Following this role,she worked in social services with women and children who were survivors of abuse. From 2008 to 2011 she was the regional Director of Gender in Anjouan,and was promoted to a national role as Director of Gender,within the Ministry of Health,Solidarity and Gender Promotion from 2011 to 2013. From 2013 to 2016,she worked in the Anjouan civil service,as Secretary General. In 2019 she was appointed Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Health. [2]
In 2020 she was selected as a member of the Convention for the Renewal of the Comoros,and was elected in the first round of the Comorian legislative elections of 2020 for the constituency of Mutsamudu I. [3] On 5 April 2020 she was elected Vice-President of the Assembly of the Union of the Comoros. [4] In 2021 she attended the investiture of the President of Niger,Azali Assoumani. [5]
The Comoros,officially the Union of the Comoros,is an archipelagic country in the Indian Ocean,at the northern end of the Mozambique Channel off the eastern coast of Africa. It shares maritime borders with Madagascar and Mayotte to the southeast,Tanzania to the northwest,Mozambique to the west,and the Seychelles to the northeast. Its capital and largest city is Moroni. The history of the Comoros extends to about 800–1000 AD when the archipelago was first inhabited. The Comoros have been inhabited by various groups throughout this time. France colonised the islands in the 19th century,and they became independent in 1975.
The Union of the Comoros consists of the three islands Njazidja,Mwali (Moheli) and Nzwani (Anjouan) while the island of Mayotte remains under French administration. The Politics of the Union of the Comoros take place in a framework of a federal presidential republic,whereby the President of the Comoros is both head of state and head of government,and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Federal legislative power is vested in both the government and parliament. The precolonial legacies of the sultanates linger while the political situation in Comoros has been extremely fluid since the country's independence in 1975,subject to the volatility of coups and political insurrection.

Azali Assoumani is a Comorian politician and military officer who has served as President of the Comoros since April 2019. He was also president from 2002 to 2006 and 2016 to February 2019. After easily winning the 14 May 2006 presidential election with 58.02% of the national vote,Sambi was inaugurated as President of the Union of the Comoros on 26 May 2006. It was the first peaceful transfer of power in the history of the Comoros.
