Haylan (Somali : Heylaan), is a administrative region o Puntland state of Somalia it'scapital is Dhahar. [1]
An old settlement, Haylan is the site of numerous ancient ruins and buildings, many of obscure origins. Northeastern Somalia in general is home to numerous such archaeological sites. However, many of these old structures have yet to be properly explored, a process which would help shed further light on local history and facilitate their preservation for posterity. [2]
Located near Badhan, the town is also where Sheikh Darod, the founding father of the Darod clan, lived and was buried. [1] Sheikh Darod's wife, Dobira, is also buried here.
In September 2018, Puntland President Abdiweli Gaas visited the Tomb of Sheikh Darod. [3] [4]
Sanag is an administrative region (gobol) in north eastern Somaliland. Abdirahman bin Isma'il al-Jabarti, also known as Daarood, Dawud or Da'ud, is the semi-legendary common ancestor of the Somali Darod clan and Harla people. According to local tradition, Abdirahman descended from Aqil ibn Abi Talib, a member of the Banu Hashim and a cousin of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. This claim of descendance, like similar claims of Arab descent made by other clans and which are typical for Somali clan genealogy, is historically untenable.

Ahmed Abdi Mohamud Sugulle "Habsade" is a Puntland and Somaliland politician. He was a decorated Colonel in the Somali Armed Forces and the second in command of the Somali Custodial Corps equivalent to that of the Italian Arma dei Carabinieri but the Custodial Corps fall under the Ministry of the Interior and are part of the Police Force. A politician and respected elder later in life (he was instrumental in the founding of Somaliland and became the Speaker of the Somaliland House of Representatives. In 1998, he was appointed Minister of the Interior of Puntland but was dismissed in 2007 after a conflict with Mohamud Muse Hersi, who became President of Puntland in 2006. In 2007, he brought Somaliland troops into Las Anod, leading to Somaliland's effective control of the Sool region. He served as various Somaliland Ministers of state from 2008. In 2014, Abdiweli Gaas became President of Puntland and he come back to Puntland.
Hassan Dahir Afqurac (English Hassan Dahir Mohamoud Af-Kurac, (Arabic حسن طاهر محمود افقرع, (Somali Xasan Daahir Maxamuud Af-Qurac: is a Somali politician who was the Vice President of Puntland from January 2005 to January 2009. later died due to Liver disease in Nairobi.
