Hayward serves vegetable-based dishes that are a combination of Italian and Japanese cuisine. [2] Their menu includes a carrot cavatelli with harissa butter and strained yogurt, a pork chop, and dumplings. [1]

History

Chef Kari Kihara left Massachusetts after being inspired by San Francisco's restaurant scene. [2]

Reception

Eater Portland featured the restaurant in their list of restaurants to visit after wine tasting, praising it for its "ambitious cooking". [1] The restaurant was nominated for Best New Restaurant at the James Beard Foundation Awards. [3] [4] [5]
