Heaven the Axe is a heavy metal band, which formed in Wagga Wagga in 2007 by Phoebe Pinnock on lead vocals and her husband, Steve Watts, on rhythm guitar. [1]
Heaven the Axe began as a duo of domestic partners, Phoebe Pinnock on lead vocals and Steve Watts (ex-Manticore) on rhythm guitar in Wagga Wagga. [2] After the couple moved to Melbourne they were joined by Matt "Skitz" Sanders (Drummer; Damaged, Terrorust) with accompaniment by Nick Williams (Rotten Chop) on bass. Phoebe, Steve and Skitz recorded two songs "So Nirvana" and "Glue" with Ren Parisi from Melbourne Records. Recruiting live members Paolo Celli and Retch Bile (Broozer) they played their first show in October 2009 at Noise Bar, Brunswick.
The band did a series of fundraising efforts in 2010 raising money for victims of child sex slavery in Nepal. Celli and Bile left and drummer Tom Rossell (House of Thumbs) and Mat Silcock (Former Damaged Guitarist) replaced them. Tim Aldridge (Abramelin) joined handling bass and the band began playing with two guitarists. Heaven the Axe were invited to perform at The Sydney Entertainment Centre in a televised performance which led to their booking at Street Machines Summernats Festival in Canberra in 2011. Heaven the Axe launched their debut record "Sex, Chugs and Rock ‘n’ Roll" independently on 17 September 2011 at The Palace Theatre in Melbourne City. [5] [6] Aramis Pitrinec (Strict Vincent) signed on as drummer also sharing the role with Rossell and Skitz. After the band recorded the album Aldridge left and was replaced by Trav Price. During November 2011 the band did a tour as main support for Rose Tattoo. The band toured through 2012 and Phoebe and Steve coordinated a festival in their hometown of Wagga Wagga featuring Angry Anderson singing Rose Tattoo songs with Heaven The Axe as his band, as well as Justice Crew and international super cross riders in a display of motorcycling stunts. They raised $50,000 in a day for their local community and attracted national attention in the media. [1]
In 2013, the band teamed up with Frankenbok, Dreadnaught, Abreact and King Parrot to tour regional areas in a blind line up draw tour called "Regional Roulette". Heaven the Axe recorded the single "Good Things Come to Those Who Hate" in 2013 with Peter "Regi" Bowman and the song featured backing vocalists Skitz, Dan McDougall (Frankenbok) and Matt Young (King Parrot) with a guitar solo by Richie Poate (Dreadnaught). The song went to #2 on the Australian iTunes Metal charts. After Summernats 2014 Mat Silcock left and Aramis Pitrinec moved to Queensland. Ed Lacey (The Wolves, King Parrot, The Berzerker) joined on guitar and Adam Savino (Decimatus) became the new drummer. In 2014 Heaven the Axe wrote and recorded the theme song to 7mate programme, Bogan Hunters, which is directed and produced by Pauly Fenech. The group's music was used on the soundtracks to SBS TV series, Housos (Series 2) and the related feature film, Housos VS Authority. The band also wrote and recorded a theme song for the film, Fat Pizza VS Housos. [1]
Lacey and Savino both quit in December 2014 immediately before the band was invited to perform Hammersonic Festival in Jakarta, Indonesia for 2015. Phoebe and Steve re-joined with Matt "Skitz" Sanders and Tom Rossell on drums and invited Aaron Butler "Azza Bok" and Tim Miedecke both from Frankenbok to join the band and in 2015 they played to 30,000 fans in Jakarta. In 2015 the band has headlined a number of Australian Festivals including Brewtality Festival, at The Tote. Heaven the Axe started writing their new record. They went into hiatus late in that year. In August 2016 the group reassembled with the line-up of Pinnock, Savino and Watts joined by Ben Gilmore on bass guitar and Alex Hellenbach on lead guitar. [2] [7] Brian Giffin of Loud magazine observed, "New blood also gives [the duo] more people to bounce song ideas off; Hellenbach in particular has been keen to step forward with a few of his own." [2] They started touring through Victoria, New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory in that month. [2]
Megadeth is an American thrash metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1983 by vocalist/guitarist Dave Mustaine. Known for their technically complex guitar work and musicianship, Megadeth is one of the "big four" of American thrash metal along with Metallica, Anthrax, and Slayer, responsible for the genre's development and popularization. Their music features complex arrangements and fast rhythm sections, dual lead guitars, and lyrical themes of war, politics, religion, death, and personal relationships.
Slayer was an American thrash metal band from Huntington Park, California, formed in 1981 by guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, drummer Dave Lombardo and bassist/vocalist Tom Araya. Slayer's fast and aggressive musical style made them one of the "big four" bands of thrash metal, alongside Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax. Slayer's final lineup comprised King, Araya, drummer Paul Bostaph and guitarist Gary Holt, who initially joined as a touring member in 2011 before joining the band permanently after Hanneman's death in 2013. Drummer Jon Dette was also a member of the band.

Testament is an American thrash metal band from Berkeley, California. Formed in 1983 under the name Legacy, the band's current lineup comprises rhythm guitarist Eric Peterson, lead vocalist Chuck Billy, lead guitarist Alex Skolnick, bassist Steve Di Giorgio and drummer Chris Dovas. Testament has experienced many lineup changes over the years, with Peterson being the only remaining original member, though they have since reunited with Skolnick, who had been out of the band from 1992 to 2005. Billy has been a member of Testament since 1986, when he replaced original singer Steve "Zetro" Souza, who had left to replace Paul Baloff in Exodus. He and Peterson are the only members to appear on all of Testament's studio albums, with the latter being the only constant member overall.
Forbidden is an American thrash metal band from the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Formed in 1985 as Forbidden Evil, but would change their name in 1987. Since their formation, Forbidden have broken up and reformed twice with numerous line-up changes. After breaking up for the first time in 1997, Forbidden reunited once again in 2007, went into an indefinite hiatus in 2012, but reformed in 2023. The current line-up of the band is Norman Skinner (vocals), Craig Locicero (guitar), Matt Camacho (bass), Steve Smyth (guitar) and Chris Kontos (drums).
L.A. Guns are an American glam metal band from Los Angeles, formed in 1983. The lineup currently consists of Tracii Guns, Phil Lewis, Ace Von Johnson, Johnny Martin, Adam Hamilton and Shawn Duncan. The first incarnation of the group was formed by Tracii Guns and Rob Gardner in 1983 and merged with fellow Los Angeles group Hollywood Rose to form Guns N' Roses in March 1985. After only a brief tenure in that band, Guns reformed L.A. Guns with a new lineup, consisting of Paul Black, Mick Cripps, Robert Stoddard, and Nickey Alexander. Black would soon be replaced by former Girl singer Phil Lewis while former Faster Pussycat bassist Kelly Nickels was added to the group. Later, Alexander would be replaced by former W.A.S.P. drummer Steve Riley with this being known as the "classic lineup" of L.A. Guns. They achieved moderate chart success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. However, the group went through numerous lineup changes and failed to regain mainstream attention.
Tracy Irving Richard Ulrich, known professionally as Tracii Guns, is an American guitarist best known as the co-founder of glam metal group L.A. Guns, as well as the supergroups named Brides of Destruction and Contraband. He was also a founding member of Guns N' Roses, but left shortly afterwards and was replaced by guitarist Slash.
Exodus is an American thrash metal band formed in 1979 in Richmond, California. Their current lineup consists of guitarists Gary Holt and Lee Altus, bassist Jack Gibson, drummer Tom Hunting, and lead vocalist Steve "Zetro" Souza. There are no original members left in Exodus other than Hunting, who has departed from the band twice, in 1989 and 2004, but rejoined in 2007. Exodus is also notable for including a then-unknown Kirk Hammett, who was the band's lead guitarist from its inception to his departure in 1983, when he left to join Metallica as Dave Mustaine's replacement. Holt has been most consistent member throughout various lineup changes and breakups, and is the only member to appear on all of Exodus' recordings. Much of the band's career has also been affected by feuds between both band members and record companies, two extended hiatuses, deaths of former band members and drug addictions.
Vincent Samson Appice is an American rock and metal drummer best known for his work with the bands Dio, Black Sabbath, and Heaven & Hell. Of Italian descent, he is the younger brother of drummer Carmine Appice.
Kix was an American glam metal and hard rock band formed in 1976, that achieved popularity during the 1980s. Led by bassist Donnie Purnell and front man Steve Whiteman, the band's classic lineup was rounded out by guitarists Ronnie "10/10" Younkins and Brian "Damage" Forsythe and drummer Jimmy "Chocolate" Chalfant. Kix covered AC/DC, Aerosmith, April Wine, Led Zeppelin, and others before signing with Atlantic Records in 1981. Since peaking in the late 1980s, band members continued to record and tour until their disbandment in 2023.
Pretty Boy Floyd is a glam metal band from Hollywood, California, formed in 1987. They are most famous for their 1989 debut album Leather Boyz with Electric Toyz and the two singles from it; "Rock and Roll " and "I Wanna Be with You". The band broke up in 1994 but reformed in 1995, releasing several new records since that time, and continue to the present.

Their 1979 7" single Gacy's Place named after notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy, is considered by many to be one of the most unusual and legendary records of the early Chicago punk rock scene. They released another 7" record in 1982 entitled Sex Cells, before fading into obscurity.
