The Faculty of Philosophy and History is one of twelve faculties at the University of Heidelberg. The present Faculty of Philosophy is the result of the amalgamation in 2002 of sectors of the former Faculties of History and Philosophy and of Oriental and Classical Studies. It is made up of three groups of subjects with common cultural, historical and geographical roots. It comprises 23 institutes and departments. [1]

Heidelberg University, officially the Ruprecht Karl University of Heidelberg, is a public research university in Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Founded in 1386 on instruction of Pope Urban VI, Heidelberg is Germany's oldest university and one of the world's oldest surviving universities; it was the third university established in the Holy Roman Empire after Vienna and Prague. Since 1899, it has been a coeducational institution.

The University of Heidelberg's Heidelberg Center for American Studies (HCA) is a higher education and research center. It was founded in 2004, making it the newest institute of Germany's oldest university. The Heidelberg Center for American Studies opened its first office in the spring of 2003. By October 2004, HCA was officially inaugurated. In the summer of 2006 the HCA moved into its present offices located in a historic building in the old city center of Heidelberg- Curt und Heidemarie Engelhorn Palais, Hauptstraße 120, 69117 Heidelberg. The institute is funded through public and private financial partnership. The founding director and former director of the institute is Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Detlef Junker. In February 2018, Prof. Dr. Welf Werner became the second director of the HCA and was also appointed Professor of American Studies at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences HCA makes exceptional contribution to interdisciplinary academic and cultural expertise on the United States in Europe. Through public lectures, debates, exhibitions, and panel discussions, the institute educates and provides the public with credible insight on the United States as a nation, and an important transatlantic partner. The Center facilitates discussions between academia and the public, creates and strengthens transatlantic networks. The HCA offers B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. programs in American studies. Students are competitively selected, receive first class education and are mentored by highly qualified professors/scholars.
The Faculty of Biosciences is one of twelve faculties at the University of Heidelberg. It comprises the Institute of Zoology, the Institute for Plant Science, the Neurobiology, and the Institute of Pharmacy and Molecular Biotechnology. The Faculty has around 2,000 students taught and assisted by about 70 professors, 40 lecturers and 300 scientific support personnel.
The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science is one of twelve faculties at the University of Heidelberg. It comprises the Institute of Mathematics, the Institute of Applied Mathematics, the School of Applied Sciences, and the Institute of Computer Science. Ursula Lehr née Leipold was a German academic, age researcher and politician. She was the first professor of gerontology in Germany, with a chair at the University of Heidelberg from 1986. She served as federal minister of youth, family, women and health from 1988 to 1991. She was a member of the Bundestag from 1990 to 1994. Returning to science, she founded the German centre for research on aging (DZFA) of the University of Heidelberg in 1995, and was head of the German National Association of Senior Citizens' Organizations (BAGSO) from 2009 to 2015.
Yung-Han Kim is a professor, a theologian and an ordained minister in South Korea. He is a well known scholar in South Korea. He founded the Korea Reformed Theological Society in 1996, served as the 1st, 2nd, 3rd president of the Society. He set up the Graduate School of Christian Studies in Soongsil University, served as the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th Dean. He served for 34 years as professor of systematic theology and Christian Philosophy at Soongsil University. Founder of Academia Christiana, he also has served as the president of Academia Christiana since 1988. He made the Shalomnabi, a civic organization, in 2010, has been serving as its chairman. He contributed more than 30 articles only in the Journal of Korea Evangelical Theological Society <Bible and Theology>. He published more than 20 books in Systematic Theology and Christian Philosophy, has been studying and contributing in the areas of dogmatics, Reformed theology, modern theology, hermeneutics, Christian Culture and Christian Spirituality. He was a chairman of Korea Evangelical Theological Society, a chairman of Korea Society for Hermeneutics (2004-2006), a chairman of Christian Philosophy Society (2006-2012), and a chairman of Korea Reformed Theology Society.
