Critical reception

The staff of HipHopDX opined that the album "might have been disappointing overall," but the song "makes the project's mediocrity completely forgivable", with it being "a potent reminder of Durkio's roots in unflinching Drill music, as the Chicago rapper wastes no time in laying an onslaught of bars over thumping production from Nick Slowburnz" and that Durk "doesn't seem like he's letting up anytime soon". [6]

Music video

The official music video for "Hellcats & Trackhawks", directed by Jerry Productions, premiered on March 26, 2021. [7] Like the music videos for the 2020 singles "Backdoor" and "Back in Blood", the latter of which is performed by American rapper Pooh Shiesty that features Lil Durk, the video finds the latter artist giving a tribute to late American rapper and fellow Only the Family artist and friend King Von, who passed away from a shootout outside a nightclub in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 6, 2020.
