Hemispheres is United Airlines' inflight magazines. The magazine is circulated monthly and reaches 139 million passengers annually. [1] The magazine was formerly produced in Greensboro, North Carolina. [2] It is currently produced in New York City. [3]

Hemispheres was established in 1992. [3] Its editorial coverage includes its signature ‘3 Perfect Days’ travel piece, and the latest news in business, travel, fashion, and culture. [1] The magazine reaches a highly influential business and leisure traveller audience, with a median household income of $128,000, spending and profession. [1]

In 2009, Ink was appointed as the new publisher for United Hemispheres. [4] Ink's first issue of Hemispheres was placed on all United Airlines and United Airlines Express flights on March 1, 2009.

Ink (company)


Ink, or Ink Global, is a multinational travel media publishing and technology company founded in 1994. Based in London, Ink publishes 33 inflight magazines for 24 airlines worldwide. The company's magazines and other media products reach over 802 million consumers annually.

The Artist's Magazine is a monthly magazine for artists formerly published by F+W Media in Cincinnati, Ohio. The magazine was founded in 1983 and claims a circulation of 60,000. The founding company was Fletcher Art Services. F&W Publications acquired the magazine in September 1986. In 2019 the company stopped its operations and its publications were sold. Macanta Investments, LLC, acquired The Artist's Magazine.

The Houston area has various local magazines. Around 1991 the Houston area had various small interest magazines established to fill niches not represented in other publications. Many typically had small numbers of employees and had freelance writers write all of their articles. Many relied on advertising revenues, with copies of the magazines being distributed for free. Each year, some magazines start business and some go out of business. Greg Hassell of the Houston Chronicle said "Because of their limited resources, the odds are against them lasting more than a few years. But there always seems to be a few optimists who believe they can break through the barriers."

Holland Herald is the inflight magazine of the Dutch airline KLM. It is the oldest inflight magazine.

Rhapsody was one of United Airlines' monthly in-flight magazines, along with Hemispheres. It was directed toward luxury consumers, being available in United's lounges and first- and business-class cabins. The magazine was published by Ink and headquartered in Brooklyn, New York.
