Hendrik Pieterse (born 4 December 1959) is a Dutch former basketball player. [1] Standing at 2.11 m, he played as center. Pieterse was a 5-time Eredivisie champion during his career.

Career

Pieterse began playing basketball at age 17. [2] He started his professional career in 1978 with Canadians, where he played until 1980. [3] From 1980 to 1984, he played college basketball for Kentucky Wesleyan. [3]

From 1984 to 1990, he played with EBBC Den Bosch in the Dutch Eredivisie and won the national championship four times and played in the FIBA European Champion's Cup. [4] In 1989, Pieterse trained with the Philadelphia 76ers in the pre-season. [4]

From 1990, he played with VBC Akrides and the next season for Den Helder, winning another Eredivisie title. [5]

From 1992 to 1994, Pieterse played in Belgium with Willebroek and Sint-Niklaas. From 1995 to 2002, he played in Germany for the NVV Lions Mönchengladbach; [6] in 2002 with Krefeld Panthers. [7]

National team career

Pieterse played for the Netherlands men's national basketball team, playing in a total of 101 games. [8] From 1983 to 1987, he played in several EuroBasket tournaments. [1]

Edward Murphy is a retired American professional basketball player. He was a 6'4" shooting guard-small forward. Born in Bayonne, New Jersey, he played basketball at Marist High School. He opted in 1974 for the academic team of Merrimack College, where he stayed until 1978, twice finishing as NCAA II runner-up. Top scorer of the Merrimack team, Murphy was drafted in 1978 by the Atlanta Hawks, in the 8th round. He never played in the NBA, instead landing in Europe. He first played the Netherlands in the B.O.B. Rotterdam (1978–79) and then in Belgium with RC Mechelen with which he led the team to the Belgian title.

Richard van Poelgeest is a Dutch retired basketball player. He played for several clubs in the Netherlands and Belgium in his career. He was also a member of the Netherlands national basketball team.
