Stadel bei Herrieden

Stadel bei Herrieden is a farm village of approximately 120 residents that is administratively part of the large town of Herrieden and administratively within the city/district of Ansbach. Stadel is situated in the Middle Franconia region of Bavaria, Germany. It is 2 km west of the upper Altmühl river on the main road between the small cities of Herrieden and Aurach. Stadel is about 11 km (7 mi) southwest of the city of Ansbach, 49 km southwest of the city of Nürnberg, 93 km east of Heilbronn and 143 km northwest of Munich. The Ansbach University of Applied Sciences is a university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule) in Ansbach, Bavaria, Germany. It was founded in 1996 and counted approximately 1,800 students as of 2008. It is the newest University of Applied Sciences in the Free State of Bavaria. The percentage of foreign students is about 6 percent. As of 2010 there are 2,300 students.

The Gymnasium Carolinum in Ansbach, Germany, was founded by George the Pious, Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach in Ansbach, the former Onolzbach, in 1528. It is reputedly the oldest and smallest of the three Gymnasiums in Ansbach. By the time it developed to the centre of education in the Ansbach ″Unterland". The school moved to its present building in 1736 which was planned as a prison in 1727, but changed to a Gymnasium in 1736. After the closure of the “Fürstenschule Heilsbronn“ the “Lateinschule“ of Ansbach was promoted to Gymnasium Carolinum Illustre. The Gymnasium was named after its patron, Karl Wilhelm Friedrich, Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach.

Ansbach Residence

Residenz Ansbach, also known as Markgrafenschloß, is a palace in Ansbach, Germany. It was the government seat of the Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach. Today it is the administrative seat of the government of Middle Franconia. The Great Hall and the Orangerie in its garden serve as venues for the biennial music festival Bachwoche Ansbach.

St. Gumbertus, Ansbach

The church St. Gumbertus is one of the central city churches of Ansbach, Bavaria, together with the neighboring St. Johannis. Located in the Altstadt of Ansbach, St. Gumbertus, now a Lutheran church, was originally the church of a monastery that was founded by St. Gumbert around 750. Today it serves as a venue for concerts of the music festival Bachwoche Ansbach. The church contains the oldest structures in Ansbach and is considered Ansbach's city symbol.

Wülzburg

2016 Ansbach bombing

On 24 July 2016, fifteen people were injured, four seriously, in a suicide bombing outside a wine bar in Ansbach, Bavaria, Germany. The bomber, identified as Mohammad Daleel, was a 27-year-old Syrian asylum seeker who had pledged allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, leader of the Islamic State. He was the only fatality in the incident. According to German authorities, Daleel was in contact with the Islamic State and had been planning more attacks before his backpack bomb exploded accidentally.

Pappenheim-Treuchtlingen was a statelet in the Holy Roman Empire that existed from 1444 until 1647.
