Henry Luther Sheldon (15 August 1821 - 28 February 1907) was an American collector who collected many objects and antiques. To store his collection, he created the Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont History. [1] In 1886, he purchased a mummy from some visiting Spanish sailors in New York City to put in his museum. However, the mummy arrived in such poor condition that it was put in the attic. When he died in 1907, the mummy was forgotten about until its rediscovery in 1945.
