Plateau is a north central Nigerian state. It is located near the centre of Nigeria and includes a range of hills surrounding the Jos Plateau. Plateau State is described as "The Home of Peace and Tourism". The state has a population of around 4.7 million people. Its capital city is Jos.

The people at the funeral were attacked by gunmen thought to also be Fulani.
Jonah David Jang is a former Nigerian military officer and politician who served as the senator representing the Plateau North senatorial district from 2015 to 2019. He previously served as the governor of Plateau State from 2007 to 2015,and as military governor of Benue and Gongola States.

Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
Ezekiel Afon was a Nigerian politician and lawmaker. He represented Pengana Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly. He was first elected into the Assembly under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party in 2015,but defected to All Progressive Congress in 2017. He died on March 10,2019,just hours after being re-elected to represent the constituency.
Eric Piangat Dakogol was a Nigerian politician. He was member of the Plateau State House of Assembly representing Qua’an Pan North State Constituency in the Assembly. He died on November 2022 after a brief illness.
