Herbert Goodchild was an early twentieth century illustrator of birds. He was born in 1873 at Cumberland and died sometime around 1919. [1] [2] Goodchild was employed to supply artwork for a fully illustrated and multi-volume work, Birds of Australia . by Gregory Mathews. This followed the death of John Keulemans in 1912. His works appeared in several other publications, but Goodchild's talents were regarded as overlooked (Olsen, 2015) in the field of ornithological illustration. [1]
Mike the Headless Chicken was a male Wyandotte chicken that lived for 18 months after his head had been cut off. After the loss of his head, Mike achieved national fame until his death in March 1947. In Fruita, Colorado, an annual "Mike the Headless Chicken Day" is held every May.

She was President of the Australasian Raptor Association 1984–1989. In 1997 she was awarded the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union's D.L. Serventy Medal for excellence in published work on birds in the Australasian region.
William Thomas "Bill" Cooper AO was an Australian artist. William was born in Adamstown NSW Australia to Coral Bird and William Cooper. He had one brother, Buddy Cooper. He trained originally as a landscape and seascape artist but achieved renown through natural history scientific illustrations, especially of birds. Cooper also became a qualified taxidermist in his teenage years.

Tony Goodchild is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Sturt in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). According to Jeff Pash, Goodchild was "the hardiest marker of them all. He gets grimly to that front position, sets himself, and stays there. Strength, with that characteristic habit of determination, does it". In 1959, Goodchild was awarded the T.S. O'Halloran Trophy as best on ground for South Australia against Victoria.
