Based upon the novels of Ann Cleeves and adapted for television by David Kane, who has remained a principal writer throughout, it stars Douglas Henshall as DI Jimmy Pérez. Also starring are Alison O'Donnell as DS Alison "Tosh" McIntosh, Steven Robertson as DC Sandy Wilson and Mark Bonnar as Duncan Hunter. Lewis Howden, Erin Armstrong, Julie Graham and Anne Kidd are also principal members of the cast. Henshall won the 2016 BAFTA Scotland award for best actor and the series received the award for Best TV Drama. From Series 8 (2023), Ashley Jensen stars as DI Ruth Calder, replacing Henshall.

A Line in the Sand is a two-part British television mini-series, adapted by Gerald Seymour from his 1999 novel of the same name, that first broadcast on ITV on 7 June 2004. The series, directed by James Hawes, stars Ross Kemp as Frank Parry, a former MI6 spy who tries to escape his past by hiding out in a remote village on the Suffolk coast. The series was originally scheduled for broadcast in September 2001, but was later shelved until June 2004, due to a major plotline which involved Middle-Eastern terrorists, which was deemed to be too sensitive following the 9/11 terror attacks in the United States earlier that month.
In Defence is a four-part British television legal drama series, created and partially written by Mike Cullen, that first broadcast on ITV on 26 June 2000. The series stars Ross Kemp and Sophie Okonedo, and follows Sam Lucas (Kemp), a lawyer and legal detective, who takes it upon himself to investigate cases where the police have failed to uncover enough evidence to secure a conviction. The series was co-written by Maxwell Young and Abigail Fray, and was initially billed as a "star-vehicle" for Kemp, as part of a "golden handcuffs" deal to lure Kemp away from the BBC. The series broadcast weekly until 17 July 2000.
The Split is a British legal drama television series, written and created by Abi Morgan, that first broadcast in the United Kingdom on BBC One on 24 April 2018. The first series, commissioned in August 2016, follows the lives of the Defoe family, who all work in divorce law for the family firm, aside from eldest sister Hannah, who works for rival family law firm Noble & Hale and youngest daughter who is a nanny. The series co-stars Stephen Mangan, Fiona Button, Annabel Scholey and Barry Atsma. Series 2 saw the return of the Defoe family at newly merged law firm Noble Hale Defoe, with most of the original cast confirmed. The third and final series premiered on 4 April 2022. For her performance in the final series, Walker received a TV Choice Award nomination for Best Actress and a National Television Award nomination for Drama Performance while The Split was nominated for Returning Drama.
