Heroes is a comic about the titular team of fictional superheroes, published by DC Comics and created by Matt Wayne and ChrisCross.
It was originally intended as a replacement in the Milestone Comics line-up for Shadow Cabinet , which was not selling well. The series took several of the Shadow Cabinet's more appealing members and put them in a more traditional superhero team, along with Static, a popular solo character. As Milestone's overall sales continued to decline, it was changed to a limited series. Milestone canceled the remainder of their ongoing series shortly thereafter. Heroes was notable for including Donner and Blitzen, an openly lesbian couple in an otherwise "mainstream" superhero series.
The team consisted primarily of refugees from the Shadow Cabinet, a covert organization dedicated to saving humanity from itself, through questionable means. Fed up with that mode of operation, they and some allies established themselves as an above-ground superhero team, named (off the cuff) "Heroes".
The team comes together when various heroes arrive to help save lives in the aftermath of a town being flooded. They continue to work together which raises the ire of the Shadow Cabinet, whom several of the team have worked for. They are forced to fight a Cabinet attack squad, led by the member called Iron Butterfly.

Static Shock is an American superhero animated television series based on the Milestone Media/DC Comics superhero Static. It premiered on September 23, 2000, on the WB Television Network's Kids' WB programming block. Static Shock ran for four seasons, with 52 half-hour episodes in total. The show revolves around Virgil Hawkins, a 14-year-old boy who uses the secret identity of "Static" after exposure to a mutagen gas during a gang fight which gave him electromagnetic powers. It was the first time that an African-American superhero was the titular character of their own broadcast animation series.

He uses these in partnership with Rocket, a human teenager using his alien technology, to protect the people of the fictional city of Dakota.
Dial H for Hero is a comic book feature published by DC Comics about a magical dial that enables an ordinary person to become a superhero for a short time, such as an hour, by selecting the letters H-E-R-O in order. Each time it is used, the dial causes its possessor to become a superhero with a different name, costume, and powers. These superheroes are usually new, but on one occasion the dial caused its user to become a duplicate of Plastic Man. Some versions of the dial, like the original, contain additional letters, allowing other kinds of transformations. The title of the series is a play on the title of the 1954 American crime mystery film directed by Alfred Hitchcock titled Dial M for Murder.
Black Lightning is a superhero who appears in American comic book published by DC Comics. The character, created by writer Tony Isabella with artist Trevor Von Eeden, first appeared in Black Lightning #1, during the Bronze Age of Comic Books. Although his precise origin story has varied over the years, he is generally depicted as a metahuman superhero who uses the ability to generate and control electricity to defend his community – and the world – as Black Lightning. Dingle, and Christopher Priest. The character first appeared in a 3-page preview in Icon #1 with his first full appearance in Static #1, written by McDuffie and Robert L. Washington III and illustrated by John Paul Leon. He is a member of a fictional subspecies of humans with superhuman abilities known as metahumans. Not born with his powers, Hawkins' abilities develop after an incident exposes him to a radioactive chemical called "Quantum Juice", turning him into a "Bang Baby".
Milestone Media Company LLC is a media company best known for creating Milestone Comics, which were published and distributed by DC Comics. Milestone Media is also best known for the Static Shock animated series that was based off of their most popular comic property. The company was founded in 1993 by a coalition of African-American artists and writers, consisting of Dwayne McDuffie, Denys Cowan, Michael Davis, Derek T. Dingle and Christopher Priest. The founders felt that minorities were severely underrepresented in American comics and wished to address this.
Madeleine Joan Blaustein, also known as Kendra Bancroft, was an American voice actress and comic writer who was known for her voice acting work for 4Kids Entertainment, DuArt Film and Video and NYAV Post, for her reprising role as the character Meowth from the Pokémon anime series and for comics written for Milestone Comics, in which she introduced one of superhero comics' first transgender female characters. She was the first intersex and transgender voice artist for many of her respective agencies.
Rocket is a fictional superheroine appearing in comic books published by DC Comics, who was introduced by Milestone Media. She was the sidekick of the superhero Icon. Rocket's powers come from her inertia belt, based on tech from Icon's ship.
Dwayne Glenn McDuffie was an American writer of comic books and television. He was best known for co-founding the pioneering minority-owned-and-operated comic book company Milestone Media, which focused on underrepresented minorities in American comics, creating and co-creating characters such as Icon, Rocket, Static, and Hardware. McDuffie was also known as a writer and producer for animated series such as Static Shock, Damage Control, Justice League Unlimited and the Ben 10 franchise.
