History
Hevein's roots go back to 1992 when guitarist Leif Hedstrom and former drummer Alpo Oksaharju started jamming together. In 1998, bassist Tomi Koivunen and violinist Aino Piipari joined the band. In 2002, cellist Max Lilja left Apocalyptica and joined Hevein. In 2003, Hevein officially started their career when vocalist Juha Immonen joined the band.
Debut album Sound Over Matter
In 2005, Hevein signed to Finnish indie label Spinefarm Records and released their debut album, Sound Over Matter. The album received a worldwide release via Universal Records and Candlelight Records in the USA.
Hevein's tour of the album was limited to a few shows in Finland, Russia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and a small tour in the Czech Republic.
Hevein released two singles and one music video that they wrote and directed themselves and the album mainly generated positive feedback from music critics.
Unfinished album Gentle Anarchy
Soon after Hevein released their debut album they set to work on writing new material for their second album Gentle Anarchy. From 2006 to 2008 the band wrote and demoed a plethora of music that did not suit the label they were signed to. In 2008, Hevein parted ways with Spinefarm Records and decided to continue writing and demoing material. With over 40 songs written and no interest from any label, Hevein decided to finance the recording of four songs for the album. On 8 January 2012, after producing a few more demos they released four new songs as a digital download via their Bandcamp website. The revenue generated from the sale of the songs enabled them to record drums for five more songs. However, due to support drying up on their Bandcamp site, the global recession and the state of the music industry, Hevein decided to disband in September 2012 before they could finish the album.
Amorphis is a Finnish extreme metal band founded by Jan Rechberger, Tomi Koivusaari, and Esa Holopainen in 1990. Initially, the band was a death metal act, but on later albums they evolved into playing other genres, including progressive metal, and folk metal. They frequently use the Kalevala, the epic poem of Finland, as a source for their lyrics.
Century Child is the fourth studio album by Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish. It was released in 2002 through Spinefarm Records in Finland, Drakkar Entertainment in the rest of Europe, Century Media Records in the US, and Toy's Factory in Japan. It is the first album which features former bassist and male vocalist Marko Hietala. It is also the first Nightwish album to feature an orchestra.

To/Die/For are a gothic metal band from the town of Kouvola in southeast of Finland, originally assembled in 1993 as a hard rock band under the name Mary-Ann. In 1999, they decided to change their musical style to gothic metal, changing their band name as well. The band disbanded in April 2009, but reformed in July 2009, and played their final concert at John Smith Festival in Finland on 22 June 2016. They reformed once again in early 2020.
"Sleeping Sun" is a power ballad and the fourth single by Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish. It was released as a maxi single with three other songs on 2 August 1999 to coincide with the total solar eclipse that would occur on 11 August.

Throughout his career, Lilja has continued to play classical music alongside rock, metal, and crossover projects.

Raskasta Joulua is a music project from Finland in which diverse artists have recorded traditional Christmas carols and Christmas hits in a heavy metal style. "Raskasta joulua" is a term in Finnish which means "heavy Christmas" in English. The concept was founded by guitarist Erkka Korhonen in 2004. Many notable Finnish metal vocalists have appeared on Raskasta Joulua albums and tours, including Marko Hietala, Jarkko Ahola, Ari Koivunen, Juha-Pekka Leppaluoto and Tony Kakko.
Aleah Liane Stanbridge, better known mononymously as Aleah, or Aleah Starbridge, was a South African singer-songwriter based in Örebro, Sweden where she lived until her death. In 2009, she and Finnish guitarist Juha Raivio founded death/doom inspired band Trees of Eternity. Aleah became well known in the rock and metal genre for her collaborations such as Swallow the Sun and Amorphis.
