"Heyday" is a song by Irish-American rock singer, Mic Christopher, released in October 2000 as the title track from his first solo EP 'Heyday'. It was written by Christopher. It was re-released on January 23 2004. [1] In 2002, it was featured in Skylarkin', Christopher's first and only solo album. It was later released after his death in November 2001.
Christopher performed "Heyday" on Ireland AM on TV3 on 22 February 2001. [2]
The song peaked at 11 in the Irish Charts after Heyday EP was re-released on 23 January 2004. [3]
The song gained fame in December 2003 after it appeared on the Guinness advert Quarrel, starring Michael Fassbender. “Music is obviously an important part of advertising and particularly Guinness advertising,” “The idea to pick ‘Heyday’ was down to Nick(Kelly) who used to be the lead singer in The Fat Lady Sings and has a huge breadth of knowledge of the Irish music industry and music in general. The reason he picked ‘Heyday’ was that he wanted something that was emotional but not downbeat. Skylarkin' is Mic Christopher's only solo album, which was released following his death in November 2001. The album was finalised by Karl Odlum and David Odlum. Many fellow musicians from the Irish music scene contributed to the album including Glen Hansard and Colm Mac Con Iomaire of the Frames, Rónán Ó Snodaigh of Kíla, Lisa Hannigan and Gemma Hayes.
David Odlum is an Irish music producer, engineer, guitarist, and drummer who has worked and played with Academy Award winners and Mercury Prize nominees. Originally a member of Kíla, a band which was founded during his schooldays at Coláiste Eoin, he left them and joined rock group The Frames, fronted by the Academy Award-winner Glen Hansard, and with whom he played guitar from 1990 until 2002. Since leaving the band, he has pursued a career as a music producer. Odlum has established a long running association with singer-songwriter Gemma Hayes, producing her Mercury Prize-nominated debut album Night on My Side, as well as later albums The Hollow of Morning, Let It Break and an as-yet untitled fifth album due in 2014. Odlum also played briefly with her.

The piece, directed by Frank Budgen, follows a snail race taking place in a town of Latin American appearance. It is the third piece of the Good things come to those who wait campaign launched by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO in 1996, following on from Swimblack (1998) and Surfer (1999). The music in the advertisement is "Barbarabateri" by Beny More with Pérez Prado and his orchestra. Prado's music has also been in used in previous Guinness advertisements such as the successful Anticipation and Swimblack.
