Hickory Grove Christian School (HGCS) is a private, college-preparatory Christian school located in Charlotte, North Carolina and consists of an early education center, elementary school, middle school, and high school. It was founded in 1995 by the leadership of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
In 1995, Hickory Grove Baptist Church started its school as a K–2 school, and each year added a grade until 2004, when HGCS graduated its first class of seniors.
HGCS consists of TK–12 grades consisting Elementary School (TK–5), Middle School (6th–8th), and High School (9th–12th). The School incorporates athletics, technology and fine arts into the academic schedule. For the current 2015–2016 school year, the school enrolled 800 students (292 in Elementary School, 197 in Middle School, and 311 in High School).
HGCS is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
The school, a non-profit organization, is composed of four educational divisions: Early Education Center, Elementary School, Middle School, and High School with individual principals.
The TK–12 school has 87 faculty and staff members, 38 in Elementary School, 16 in Middle School and 33 in High School. 79 of which are full- and part-time teachers. The average K–12 full-time faculty member has 14 years of classroom experience, with 22 percent having attained advanced degrees. The school staff also includes a full-time athletic director, admissions director, finance director, guidance counselor, and school nurse.
The High School offers a full honors track as well as 11 AP classes including English Language and Composition, English Literature and Composition, Biology, Chemistry, Physics I, Statistics, Calculus AB, US History, US Government and Politics, Human Geography and Computer Science.
In May 2015, 79 HGCS students took a total of 128 Advanced Placement exams with 16 students earning a 5 on one or more AP Exams; 24 students earned a 4 on one or more AP Exams; 31 students earned a 3 on one or more AP Exams. The mean SAT scores for the Class of 2015 were: Critical Reading –521, Mathematics –516, and Writing –517, SAT score of 1037, and total composite score of 1554. The mean ACT scores for the Class of 2015 were: English –24.3, Mathematics –22.8, Reading –22.8, and Science –23.3, and a total composite score of 23.7.
In 2015, 96% of HGCS graduates went on to attend colleges/universities; 20% of those began their college career in a two year program; 4% of HGCS graduates entered the military.
Starting in January 2016, HGCS High School students have the opportunity for a concurrent dual enrollment agreement with The College at Southeastern.
HGCS Athletics is made up of 28 teams participating in 14 different sports for our student body beginning in the sixth grade.
HGCS is a member of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAA). Varsity teams compete at the 3A level and are members of the Metrolina Athletic Conference (MAC). Since joining the NCISAA in 2002, the Lions have 57 State playoff appearances, 22 State Final Fours, 5 State Runner Up finishes, 7 State Championships, and 2 Individual State Championships. Since becoming a member of the MAC Conference, our teams have won 48 Regular Season and Conference Tournament Championships. [1]
Sports include football, men's and women's soccer, volleyball, cheerleading, cross country, men's and women's basketball, swimming, men's and women's tennis, baseball, softball and golf.
HGCS has a drama program, dance program, and visual arts classes. They also have a beginning, intermediate, and high school band.
Apponequet Regional High School, located at 100 Howland Road in Lakeville, Massachusetts opened September 21, 1959. Apponequet serves secondary academic education students from the towns of Freetown, and Lakeville. It is the only high school within the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District.
Singapore American School (SAS) is a non-profit, independent, co-educational day school located in the Woodlands area of Singapore. It offers an American-based curriculum for students in preschool through high school. One of Singapore's first international schools, SAS was founded in 1956 and started with a hundred students in a colonial house. It has since developed into a school of over 4,000 students on a 36-acre campus. SAS is accredited by the US-based Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
Bergen County Technical High School, also known as Bergen Tech (BT), is a four-year, tuition-free public magnet high school located in Teterboro, New Jersey serving students in ninth through twelfth grades in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. Bergen Tech is part of the Bergen County Technical Schools, a countywide district that also includes Bergen County Academies in Hackensack, Applied Technology in Paramus, and Bergen Tech in Paramus. The school is nationally recognized, as students have the opportunity to be engaged in a technical major while fulfilling college preparatory classes and having the opportunity to take a wide variety of electives.
Cannon School is an independent, nonsectarian, college preparatory institution serving students in junior kindergarten through grade 12. The school enrolled approximately 900 students for the 2012–2013 school year. Cannon School is located in Concord, North Carolina in Cabarrus County, on a 65-acre (26 ha) campus on Poplar Tent Road near the Cabarrus–Mecklenburg county line. The school is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Southern Association of Independent Schools.
Ravenscroft School is a coed independent school located in Raleigh, North Carolina. The school enrolls students between PreKindergarten and 12th grade, and serves 1,233 students. The school has three divisions: Lower School, Middle School and Upper School.
Simley High School is a public high school in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, United States. The school opened in 1961 with a graduating class of 19 students. The school, in 2022, has approximately 1,200 students enrolled in grades 9–12. In November 2022, the principal was Gerald Sakala.

The Morris County School of Technology is a vocational magnet public high school located in Denville Township, in Morris County, United States, operating as part of the Morris County Vocational School District. This school prepares high school students for future careers, through its academy programs, each focusing on a particular trade as well as an advanced college preparatory program. Students apply to one of the 13 different academies in a process that starts the 8th grade year of local students. The highly competitive process begins with a general admissions test and is followed by group interviews on an academy basis. The school has an overall acceptance rate of 30%.

Carolina Friends School is an independent, co-educational Quaker school located in Durham, North Carolina. It enrolls students from age 3 and pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school was founded in 1962 by members of the Durham Friends Meeting and Chapel Hill Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends as one of the first racially integrated schools in the South and the first in the state. While CFS is deeply guided by Quaker values, it is a secular and inclusive independent school. Most students, parents, and teachers at CFS are not Quaker. Korea International School, Jeju Campus (KISJ) is South Korea's first international boarding school. The school is a sister campus to Korea International School and an affiliate of YBM, a pioneering publishing and English-language education services company. Founded in 2010 and first opened in 2011 as part of the Jeju Global Education City, the school's first senior class of 52 students matriculated in May 2016. KISJ is a proprietary, nonsectarian school offering an internationalized American college preparatory curriculum from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12, with a boarding program starting in Grade 6. The high school has been approved to implement AP Capstone™ in 2017–18.
Prairie Grove High School is an accredited comprehensive public high school serving students in grades nine through twelve in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, United States.
