The Highland County Maple Festival is an annual event in Highland County, Virginia that celebrates the local maple syrup industry. The event has been held since 1958 during the weekends of mid-March. The event attracts thousands of visitors to the county seat of Monterey, Virginia, at the intersection of US 250 and US 220, and the surrounding areas. Visitors to the event observe how maple syrup is produced and can sample a wide array of maple syrup related foods. [1] [2]
In 1999, The Library of Congress designated The Highland Maple Festival a "Local Legacy". [2] [3] In 2014, the Governor of Virginia signed a bill into law designating Highland's Maple Festival as the "official maple festival of Virginia". [4]
The festival was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but returned to record crowds in 2022. [5]

Formerly a separate municipality, Almonte is a ward of the town of Mississippi Mills, which was created on January 1, 1998, by the merging of Almonte with Ramsay and Pakenham townships. Cave Lake State Park is a public recreation area occupying more than 4,000 acres (1,600 ha) in the Schell Creek Range, adjacent to Humboldt National Forest, in White Pine County, Nevada. The state park is located at an elevation of 7,300 feet (2,200 m) five miles (8.0 km) southeast of Ely and is accessed via U.S. Route 50 and Success Summit Road. It features a 32-acre (13 ha) reservoir for fishing and flat-wake boating.

The Geauga County Maple Festival is a fair celebrating the production of maple syrup. It is the oldest maple festival in the United States, and one of the largest. The fair takes place in Chardon, Ohio in the Chardon Courthouse Square District. Chardon is located in northeast Ohio, about 35 miles east of Cleveland. The festival was founded in 1926 in an attempt to market Ohio syrup in competition with Vermont syrup.
