SeaTac is a city in southern King County, Washington, United States. The city is an inner-ring suburb of Seattle and part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The name "SeaTac" is derived from the Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, itself a portmanteau of Seattle and Tacoma.
Burien is a suburban city in King County, Washington, United States, located south of Seattle on Puget Sound. As of the 2020 census, making it the 25th most populous city in Washington, Burien's population was 52,066, which is a 56.3% increase since incorporation in 1993. An annexation in 2010 increased the city's population significantly.
Des Moines is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 32,888 as of the 2020 census. The city is located on the east shore of Puget Sound, near the center of the Seattle metropolitan area. It is bordered by the suburbs of Federal Way to the south, Kent to the east, SeaTac to the northeast, Burien to the north, and Normandy Park to the northwest.
White Center is a census-designated place (CDP) in King County, Washington, United States. It lies between West Seattle and Burien. The population was 16,631 at the 2020 census.
West Seattle is a conglomeration of neighborhoods in Seattle, Washington, United States. It comprises two of the thirteen districts, Delridge and Southwest, and encompasses all of Seattle west of the Duwamish River. It was incorporated as an independent town in 1902 before being annexed by Seattle five years later. Among the area's attractions are its saltwater beach parks along Elliott Bay and Puget Sound, including Alki Beach Park and Lincoln Park. The area is also known for its views of the Olympic Mountains to the west and the Cascade Range to the east. One-third of Seattle's green space and urban forest is located in West Seattle, much of it in the West Duwamish Greenbelt.
Westside Seattle, formerly The Westside Weekly, is a weekly newspaper that serves the areas of West Seattle, Ballard, White Center, Burien, Des Moines, and SeaTac in Washington state.
State Route 518 (SR 518) is a 3.42-mile-long (5.50 km) state highway located entirely within King County in the U.S. state of Washington. The freeway begins in Burien at an interchange with SR 509 and travels east to serve Seattle–Tacoma International Airport and intersect SR 99 in SeaTac. SR 518 continues east into Tukwila and ends at an interchange with Interstate 5 (I-5), as the freeway becomes I-405. The highway was codified in 1937 as the western segment of Secondary State Highway 1L (SSH 1L) and designated as SR 518 during the 1964 highway renumbering. During the 1970s, the roadway was widened into a freeway to serve the airport and serves over 100,000 vehicles per day.
State Route 509 (SR 509) is a 35.17-mile-long (56.60 km) state highway in the U.S. state of Washington, connecting Tacoma in Pierce County to Seattle in King County. The highway travels north from Interstate 705 (I-705) in Tacoma to SR 99 south of downtown Seattle. It serves cities along the Puget Sound and west of Seattle–Tacoma International Airport in south King County, including Federal Way, Des Moines, and Burien. SR 509 is part of the National Highway System and is a limited-access highway near the Port of Tacoma and from Burien to its northern terminus in Seattle.
Mount Rainier High School is a secondary school in Des Moines, Washington, United States; named for Mount Rainier which can be seen quite well from the school on a clear day. Mount Rainier serves approximately 1700 students and has been active since 1957. It was created to handle the overflow from nearby Highline High School, the district's first high school located in Burien, Washington. The original, aging facility was replaced with a new building at the same location; it opened in September 2007.
Highline High School is a public high school in Burien, Washington, United States, located about 3.5 miles from Seattle–Tacoma International Airport. Highline High School, the flagship high school of the Highline Public Schools district, opened in 1924 and served the cities of Burien, Des Moines, and an area south of Seattle now known as White Center. Today, those cities all have their own area high schools, but at the time Highline was the only high school in the area.
Robinson Newspapers are a group of community weekly newspapers that served several neighborhoods and towns in King County, Washington. The newspapers cover the neighborhoods of Ballard and West Seattle within the City of Seattle. Outside of Seattle, they cover White Center, Burien, and the greater Highline area south of Seattle to the communities of Des Moines, and SeaTac. In 2013 the newspapers were merged into a single print publication called the Westside Weekly though the individual newspaper "flags" or brands are within sections of the printed product. Each newspaper still operates online individually.
Evergreen High School is a public high school in the Highline School District and located in White Center, an unincorporated area of King County, Washington. The school is located just south of the heavily polluted Hicklin Lake. Evergreen High School's mascot is the wolverine.
Tyee High School, formerly Tyee Educational Complex, is a public high school campus located in SeaTac, Washington, United States. It was founded as Tyee High School, a single public high school, in 1962. It is operated by the Highline School District.
Highline College is a public community college in Des Moines, Washington. Highline was founded in 1961 as the first community college in King County, Washington. The main campus covers 80 acres (320,000 m2). As of 2015, there were approximately 17,000 students and 350,000 alumni of the college.

Des Moines Memorial Drive, also known locally as the Living Road of Remembrance, is a road in southern King County, Washington, noted for its large numbers of American elm trees planted as a memorial to soldiers killed in World War I.
The Highland Park and Lake Burien Railway was an interurban railway line in the southern suburbs of Seattle, Washington, United States. It connected West Seattle to Highland Park, modern-day White Center, and Burien along 9 miles (14 km) of track. It ran from Harbor Ave SW along W Marginal Way SW to approximately S Holly St where it entered private right of way. From there it climbed the heavily forested hill to 9th Ave SW until SW Henderson St where it turned West until 16th Ave SW where it turned South again. It ran until SW 107th St and then jogged East to 12th Ave SW. The line continued South all the way to SW 152nd St where it turned West and terminated around 21st Ave SW.

Seattle Southside is a region of Western Washington, officially made up of the cities of SeaTac, Tukwila and Des Moines, Washington. In addition to the primary cities, the term is loosely used to describe other cities including: Burien, Normandy Park, White Center, Georgetown, South Seattle, Columbia City, Kent, and Federal Way. The area is marketed as a travel destination by Seattle Southside Regional Tourism Authority (RTA) and Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce claims to represent business interests.
