Hima Douglas

Hima Ikimotu Douglas (also known as Himalea I Takelesi) (born 1946 or 1947) is a Niuean broadcaster, politician, and diplomat. He is Speaker of the Niue Assembly.

Douglas was educated in New Zealand and holds an accounting degree. [1] He worked as a broadcaster, a broadcasting consultant, and a public servant for the South Pacific Commission and Niuean government, and for many years was manager of the Broadcasting Corporation of Niue. [1] He was elected to the Niue Assembly at the 1999 Niuean general election, [2] but resigned partway through his term to become Niue's first High Commissioner to New Zealand. [3] Following his return to Niue he was re-elected at the 2005 election, but was not re-elected in the Niuean general election of June 2008. [4]

In June 2020, he was elected Speaker of the Niue Assembly, replacing Togiavalu Pihigia. [5] [6]

Tauveve O’Love Jacobsen is a Niuean politician and diplomat. She served as Niue's High Commissioner to New Zealand from 2011 to 2017. Her predecessor was Sisilia Talagi, Niue's first female diplomat and High Commissioner. She had previously served as a member of the Niue Assembly and a minister in Toke Talagi's government. She was previously a long-standing leading figure in the informal parliamentary Opposition to Young Vivian's government. She was, from 2008 to 2011, Minister of Health, Minister of Public Works, Minister of Women's Affairs, and Minister in charge of the Niue Power Corporation. She had previously been Minister of Education, Health, Environment, Training and Development. Richard Hipa is a member of the Niue Assembly, and was first elected at the 2020 elections. While he initially planned to run in the constituency of Alofi north, he ultimately ran as a candidate on the common roll. Hipa received 440 votes in the election, which gave him the most votes in the election. This led to speculation that he would put his name forward as a contender for Premier, something Hipa confirmed, but ultimately he did not put his name forward and the election was contested between Dalton Tagelagi and O'Love Jacobsen.

Hunuki Saletogia Hunukitama was a Niuean politician and independent member of the Niue Assembly from 2001 until his death in 2003. Prior to his election to the assembly, Hunukitama served as the secretary to the premier of Niue. Additionally, Hunukitama served in managerial roles across a number of governmental and business organizations.
