Himalayan Highs, an initiative launched by TVS Motor Company, which was an enabler for women riders to take up a long road trips on a Scooty Zest 110. The initiative gained fame in 2015 after India's Youngest Women stunt rider Anam Hashim [1] became the first woman on a 110 cc scooter to complete the trip to Khardung La, a mountain pass in the Himalayas on a TVS ScootyZest 110. This pass is considered the world's highest motorable stretch and Anam's feat has been included in the India Book of Records. [2]

For the Season 2 of Himalyan Highs, 10 women were shortlisted after a selection process that included 2000 entries from across India. [3] Each woman was given a TVS Scooty Zest 110 with a choice of colour, while Anam Hashim led the team riding the Himalayan Highs Special Edition of the scooter. Himalayan Highs Season 2 kicked off on August 11, 2016, and concluded on August 21, 2016. The entourage earned themselves a place in India Book of Records for being the first group of women riders to conquer Khardung La on a 110cc scooter. [4]

Himank, also styled Project HIMANK, is a project of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in the Ladakh region of northernmost India that started in August 1985. It is known for constructing some of the world's highest motorable roads across the Khardung La, Tanglang La and Chang La passes. Umling la is the highest motorable road on Earth with height 5882 metres. It is responsible for constructing and maintaining motorable roads in Ladakh, along the Line of Actual Control. The project ensures access to sensitive military areas including the world's highest battleground at the Siachen Glacier and Pangong Tso Lake, whose waters span the de facto India-China border. Nicknamed "The Mountain Tamers", much of Himank's work is constrained to four months per year, as heavy snow and extreme cold make some roads inaccessible at times. Between 1987 and 2002, at least 124 Himank personnel were killed while on duty in Ladakh, including five officers. Most of its manual labourers are from Bihar state, not Ladakh. They are nicknamed Dumkas, where many of the original Himank workers were recruited.

Anam Hashim is an Indian professional streetbike freestyle athlete. She is the only Indian stunt athlete to win an international stunt competition in 2017. She is known as the first woman who rode to Khardung La on a TVS Scooty alone and also led a group of 10 women to Khardungla in 2016 during the Himalayan Highs. She made her debut in Cross Country Rally Racing at Desert Storm 2019 and is preparing for 2021 race season.
