The National League for Democracy is a deregistered liberal democratic political party in Myanmar (Burma). It became the country's ruling party after a landslide victory in the 2015 general election but was overthrown in a military coup d'état in early 2021 following another landslide election victory in 2020.
Myanmar is a unitary republic,with elected representatives at the national state or region levels. On the national level,the president who is the head of state and legislature,is elected indirectly through an Electoral College. According to the 2008 constitution,the term durations of the President,and Cabinet are five years. All elections are regulated by the Union Election Commission.

He was a Minister of Foreign Affairs under Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Min Aung Hlaing after the 2021 Myanmar coup d'état. He previously served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from March 2011 to March 2016. He is a retired colonel in the Myanmar Army.

Tun Tun Hein is a Burmese politician and former Deputy Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw,the lower house of the Myanmar parliament. He also serves as a member of the National League for Democracy's (NLD) Central Executive Committee and heads NLD's voter list review committee.

T Khun Myat is a Burmese politician,lawyer and Speaker of the Union Assembly,the Joint House and Pyithu Hluttaw,the lower house of the Myanmar parliament. In both 2010 election and 2015 election,he contested and won the Kutkai Township constituency for a seat in the country's lower house.
Phyo Min Thein is a Burmese politician and former political prisoner who served as Chief Minister of Yangon Region and Yangon Region Parliament from 2016 to 2021. He also served as an MP for Hlegu Township Constituency No. 2. Previously,he was the chairman of Union Democratic Party and founder of the People Democracy Party which later merged with Union Democratic Party.
Aung Moe Nyo,a doctor,is a Burmese politician who served as Chief Minister of Magway Region,the head of the Magway Region Government,from 2016 to 2021. He was elected from NLD in the former elections and re-elected in the 2015 election and became the chief minister in 2016.
Hla Swe is a Burmese politician who served as an MP in the House of Nationalities for Magwe Region №12 constituency from 2011 to 2016.
Wai Phyo Aung is a Burmese politician and medical doctor served as a member of parliament in the House of Representatives for Thaketa Township constituency from 2016 until his removal from office in the 2021 Myanmar coup d'état. He is a member of the National League for Democracy.

The State Administration Council is the military junta currently governing Myanmar,established by Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Min Aung Hlaing following the February 2021 coup d'état and the declaration of a state of emergency by the National Defence and Security Council. Under the constitution,the Commander-in-Chief holds absolute legislative,executive,and judicial power during a state of emergency. Min Aung Hlaing has delegated his legislative power to the SAC,which he chairs. It has formed a provisional administration,also led by Min Aung Hlaing as Prime Minister of Myanmar.
P'doh Mahn Nyein Maung is a Karen politician and former rebel leader. He is currently serving as a member of Myanmar's State Administration Council.
The National Unity Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar is a Myanmar government in exile formed by the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH),a group of elected lawmakers and members of parliament ousted in the 2021 Myanmar coup d'état. The European Parliament has recognized the NUG as the legitimate government of Myanmar. It includes representatives of the National League for Democracy,ethnic minority insurgent groups,and various minor parties.
In Myanmar's next general election,voters are expected to elect representatives to both the Amyotha Hluttaw and the Pyithu Hluttaw of the Assembly of the Union. The planned election would be the first after the 2021 military coup d'état. Though the military junta,the State Administration Council,initially promised to hold the election by August 2023,it has since indefinitely delayed the election in the face of increasing violence.
Ywet Nu Aung is a Burmese human rights lawyer known for taking on legal challenges against Buddhist nationalists. She was a member of the Mandalay Region's Central Executive Committee of the National League for Democracy and the party's legal adviser.
