HogMaw is an American band from York, Pennsylvania, United States. The music of HogMaw has been described as a combination of bluegrass, folk, [1] funk, and heavy metal called "thundergrass". [2] [3]
HogMaw formed in 2008 when fiddler Ryann Lynch met guitarist Matt Baldwin and banjo and mandolin player Colin Reeves at a folk music festival in rural New Jersey. HogMaw has appeared as a featured group on Philadelphia-area public radio station WXPN's Folk Show. [4] [5] In June 2011, the band entered a band competition sponsored by the Philadelphia Folksong Society, which invited campground musicians from its annual music festival to compete for a chance to perform on stage. HogMaw was one of two bands who won, and later that August they opened on the main stage of the annual 50th Philadelphia Folk Festival, [6] [7] one of the largest in North America.
Hogmaw performed at the Bucks County Bluegrass Festival in 2011. [8] [9]
HogMaw is also featured in the independent film At Fest. The music and members of HogMaw are included in the 2013 trailer for the feature-length documentary. [10]
HogMaw released its first album, Wake, in July 2012. To raise money for the project, they used crowdfunding website Kickstarter [2] ultimately doubling their goal and raising $2,400 from supporters of the band. The album received a positive review at Tristate. [9] The group entered the studio in early 2013 and recorded a second album, Ideal Proof with producer Dom Flemons. [11]
In 2014, Hogmaw performed at the Little Buffalo Festival [12] and the Spring Pickin' Bluegrass Festival in Pennsylvania. [13] In 2015 they performed at the Camp Jam in the Pines Music Festival in New Jersey. [14]

As leader of the Del McCoury Band, he plays guitar and sings lead vocals along with his two sons, Ronnie McCoury and Rob McCoury, who play mandolin and banjo respectively. In June 2010, he received a National Heritage Fellowship lifetime achievement award from the National Endowment for the Arts and in 2011 he was elected into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame.

Foghorn Stringband is an old-time string band from Portland, Oregon, United States. They are considered one of the finest old-time string bands on the West Coast. They are noted for "intense dedication to the sources" of the old time tradition. Their music is billed as "a blend of high-spirited Appalachian dance music tying in sounds of traditional mountain fiddle tunes." Their interpretation of old time is played with the energy and edginess of punk rock, while at the same time showing a tremendous degree of technical finesse.
Rollin' In The Hay is an American alternative bluegrass band from Birmingham, Alabama. The group has self-released six CDs and also has created 15 nationally released instrumental tributes called the Pickin' On series. The band is listed in the Alabama Music Hall of Fame as "Music Achievers".
