Holdsworth was a UCI Continental team founded in 2018. [2] Although the team is British-based, with its headquarters in Rotherham, Yorkshire, it is Irish-registered. [3] [4] The founding of the team marked the return of the bicycle brand to competition after a 40 year absence, with the Holdsworth name being revived by Planet X founder Dave Loughran. [1] In 2017, the team announced their intention to race in the 2018 Tour de Yorkshire: [5] their place was confirmed in March 2018. [3]
Rotherham is a town in South Yorkshire, England, which together with its conurbation and outlying settlements to the north, south and south-east forms the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham, with a recorded population of 257,280 in the 2011 census. Historically in the West Riding of Yorkshire, its central area is on the banks of the River Don below its confluence with the Rother on the traditional road between Sheffield and Doncaster. Rotherham was well known as a coal mining town as well as a major contributor to the steel industry.

Sir Bradley Marc Wiggins, CBE is a British former professional road and track racing cyclist, who competed professionally between 2001 and 2016. Nicknamed "Wiggo", he began his cycling career on the track, but made the transition to road cycling and is one of the few cyclists in the modern era to gain significant elite level success in both those forms of professional cycling. He is the only rider to have combined winning both World and Olympic championships on both the track and the road, as well as winning the Tour de France, and holding the iconic track hour record. In addition, he has worn the leader's jersey in each of the three Grand Tours of cycling and held the world record in team pursuit on multiple occasions.
Russell Downing is an English cyclist riding for Holdsworth. He is the younger brother of fellow cyclist Dean Downing. He has competed largely on the UCI Continental Tour and in British Premier Calendar races.
Dean "Deano" Downing is an English retired bicycle racer, specialising in road cycling who last rode for NFTO Pro Cycling. Downing was educated at Wales High School and Sheffield Hallam University, where he graduated in 1998 with a degree in Construction Management. He rode for the DFL-Cyclingnews-Litespeed team in 2006 and is the older brother of former British champion Russell Downing. In 2004, he represented Great Britain at the World Track Championships.
Evan Oliphant is a Scottish bicycle racer from Wick, Caithness, riding for Vitus Pro Cycling Team since 2012, having spent the previous three seasons with Endura Racing.
Benjamin Swift is an English professional track and road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Team Sky. Swift won the scratch race at the 2012 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. His cousin, Connor Swift, is also an English professional road racing cyclist, and the 2018 winner of the British National Road Race Championships.
Adam Michael Blythe is an English professional road and track racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Lotto–Soudal. Blythe began racing at a young age and went on to become a member of British Cycling's Olympic Development Programme. He is also the YouTube channel Global Cycling Network's Head of Fashion.
Lars Petter Nordhaug is a Norwegian former road bicycle racer, who competed professionally between 2005 and 2017 for the Joker–Bianchi, Team Sky, Belkin Pro Cycling, Team Sky and Aqua Blue Sport teams.
Morgan Kneisky is a French track and road racing cyclist. He is a member of the Groupama–FDJ Continental Team team, and is a four-time World Track Cycling Champion.
Jonathan "Jon" Mould is a Welsh racing cyclist from Newport. Mould is a member of British Cycling's Olympic Academy Programme which he joined in 2010.
Jonathan Tiernan-Locke is a British former professional road racing cyclist who last raced for UCI ProTeam Team Sky in 2013. Tiernan-Locke's major breakthrough came from winning four stage races during the 2012 UCI Europe Tour, including the Tour of Britain, while riding for Endura Racing. In 2014, his 2012 Tour of Britain win was stripped following the identification of anomalies in his biological passport data from around the time of that race, and he was banned from competition until the end of 2015.
Marcin Białobłocki is a Polish cyclist, currently competing for British amateur team Steele Davis Via Roma RT. He has also competed professionally for primarily British teams between 2011 and 2017.
The 2014 season for the Giant–Shimano began in January with the Tour Down Under. As a UCI ProTeam, they were automatically invited and obligated to send a squad to every event in the UCI World Tour.

Motor doping, or mechanical doping, in competitive cycling terminology, is a method of cheating by using a hidden motor to help propel a racing bicycle. The term is an analogy to chemical doping in sport, cheating by using performance-enhancing drugs. As a form of "technological fraud" it is banned by the Union Cycliste Internationale, the international governing body of cycling.
Sean McKenna is an Irish cyclist riding for Holdsworth Pro Cycling.. Sean was selected to ride for Team Holdsworth Pro Cycling at the 2018 edition of the Tour De Yorkshire.
The Women's Tour de Yorkshire is a women's road cycling race in Yorkshire, England. From 2015 to 2017, the event was a one-day race. The 2018 event was a two-day event, with a UCI race classification of 2.1. The event is the female equivalent of the Tour de Yorkshire.
The 2018 Tour de Yorkshire was a four day cycling stage race held in Yorkshire over 3–6 May 2018. It was the fourth edition of the Tour de Yorkshire, organised by Welcome to Yorkshire and the Amaury Sport Organisation. The 2018 TDY differed from its predecessor in that the event was extended to four days from three, with the women's event being extended to two days over the 3 and 4 May 2018.
