Holland Herald is the inflight magazine of the Dutch airline KLM. Launched in 1966 it is the oldest inflight magazine. [1] [2]

History and profile

Holland Herald was first published on 21 January 1966. [3] [4] In the first year the magazine was published bimonthly and black and white. [1] [3] Next year its frequency was switched to monthly. [3] [4] The magazine is published in English. [4]

Holland Herald was formerly published by the Ink Publishing. [5] The company began to publish it in 2009. [6] The Netherland branch of the Hearst company, Hearst Netherlands, is the publisher of the magazine. [1] [7] [8]

CNN named Holland Herald as the tenth best inflight magazine worldwide in 2012. [9] [10] The content of the magazine includes articles concerning the contemporary Dutch culture, commerce, and politics. The first 3D advertisement was published in the magazine which featured a beer brand, Heineken. [11]

Holland Herald was redesigned in April 2022. [8] The Content Marketing Grand Prix awarded the magazine in the categories of the magazine and content design in October 2022. [8]

It is the world's third busiest airport by international passenger traffic in 2021. With almost 72 million passengers in 2019, it is the third-busiest airport in Europe in terms of passenger volume and the busiest in Europe in terms of aircraft movements. With an annual cargo tonnage of 1.74 million, it is the 4th busiest in Europe. AMS covers a total area of 6,887 acres of land. The airport is built on the single-terminal concept: one large terminal split into three departure halls.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Tenerife airport disaster</span> 1977 runway collision in Spain and deadliest crash in aviation history

The Tenerife airport disaster occurred on March 27, 1977, when two Boeing 747 passenger jets collided on the runway at Los Rodeos Airport on the Spanish island of Tenerife. The collision occurred when KLM Flight 4805 initiated its takeoff run while Pan Am Flight 1736 was still on the runway. The impact and resulting fire killed everyone on board KLM 4805 and most of the occupants of Pan Am 1736, with only 61 survivors in the front section of the aircraft. With 583 fatalities, the disaster is the deadliest accident in aviation history.

Venezolana Internacional de Aviación Sociedad Anónima, or VIASA for short, was the Venezuelan flag carrier airline between 1960 and 1997. It was headquartered in the Torre Viasa in Caracas. Launched in November 1960, it was nationalised in 1975 due to financial problems, and re-privatised in 1991, with the major stake going to Iberia. The company ceased operations in January 1997, and went into liquidation.

KLM Cityhopper is the regional airline subsidiary of KLM, headquartered in Haarlemmermeer, North Holland, Netherlands. It is based at nearby Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. As a subsidiary of Air France–KLM, it is an affiliate of SkyTeam. The airline operates scheduled European feeder services on behalf of KLM.

Air Transat is a Canadian airline based in Montreal, Quebec. Founded in 1986, it operates scheduled and charter flights serving 60 destinations in 25 countries. Air Transat is owned and operated by Transat A.T. Inc., with 36 aircraft registered with Transport Canada as of September 2023.

American Way was a free, inflight magazine available across the entire American Airlines fleet and Admirals Clubs premium lounges. The magazine was first published in 1966. It was published on a monthly basis and reached over 16 million passengers every month.

In-flight advertising is advertising that targets potential consumers aboard an airplane. It includes commercials during in-flight entertainment programming, advertisements in in-flight magazines or on Boarding Passes, ads on seatback tray tables and overhead storage bins, and sales pitches by flight attendants. Ads can be tailored to the traveler's destination, or several of the airlines destinations, promoting local restaurants, hotels, businesses and shopping.

AeroMobile Communications Limited is a registered mobile network operator for the aviation industry and is based in the UK. It provides technology and services that allow the safe use of passengers' own mobile phones while inflight. A subsidiary of Panasonic Avionics Corporation its services are often installed alongside Panasonic's Wi-Fi network and can be installed either at the point of aircraft manufacture or retro-fitted across both Airbus and Boeing aircraft. Panasonic Avionic's Wi-Fi network and AeroMobile's mobile phone network are complimentary services and provide passengers with a choice of inflight connectivity options.

Maxposure Media Group, stylized as MaXposure Media, is Asia's largest Content Marketing company in the genres of lifestyle, luxury, travel, hospitality, retail, enthusiasts, automobile, aviation, entertainment and real estate. It offers magazines, digital content, video, social media, mobile apps, augmented realty, A.I., promotions and events. It was founded by Vikas Johari and Jorge Arauz in Coral Gables, Florida. enRoute is the in-flight magazine and entertainment system of Air Canada. All content in the print magazine, as well as the website, is published in both French and English by Spafax. The magazine has offices in both Montreal, Quebec. and Toronto, Ontario.

Scandinavian Traveler is the inflight magazine of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS).

Rhapsody was one of United Airlines' monthly in-flight magazines, along with Hemispheres. It was directed toward luxury consumers, being available in United's lounges and first- and business-class cabins. The magazine was published by Ink and headquartered in Brooklyn, New York.
