Hollow Ground were an English heavy metal band.
Formed in the North East of England in the late 1970s, Hollow Ground became one of the cutting edge groups of the NWOBHM period. Although they only released six tracks, these have come to be considered a classic example of the style of the era. [1] In 1980 they released the Warlord EP, containing the tracks "Flying high," "Warlord," "Rock on", and "Don't chase the dragon." This 7-inch record is difficult to find and now changes hands for £200 in mint condition. [2] Later in 1980, a further two tracks ("Fight with the devil" and "The holy one") were recorded and were used along with "Rock on" and "Flying high" on the Roksnax split album. Four more tracks were recorded, "Rock to love", "Promised land," "Easy action", and "Loser", but were never released. In 1990 the track "Fight with the devil" was included on the Lars Ulrich/Geoff Barton compilation album NWOBHM '79 Revisited. The original Warlord EP tracks can also be found on the compilation CD Rare Metal: N.W.O.B.H.M. Metal Rarities, Volume 1.
Singer Glenn Coates left Hollow Ground to join Fist in 1982 for their Back With A Vengeance album. This defection signalled the end for Hollow Ground.

In 2007 the band were asked to reform and play at the Headbangers Open Air Festival in Germany. They were received favourably, particularly by fans of the NWOBHM, who were delighted to see one of the 'lost' bands of that era perform live.[ citation needed ]
Hollow Ground also appeared on the bill with Jameson Raid and Cloven Hoof for a gig at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on 30 March 2013. [3]

Fighting Back, released in 1986, is a live album by the British heavy metal band Cloven Hoof. Unusually for a live album, it features a selection of new tracks not featured on previous albums, although the song "Eye of the Sun" would later resurface on their 2006 album of the same name and "Reach For the Sky" and "The Fugitive" were used on the follow-up 1988 album, Dominator. This is the only Cloven Hoof release to feature singer Rob Kendrick, and the last with guitarist Steve Rounds and drummer Kevin Poutney before breaking up the band.

Neat Records was a British independent record label based near Newcastle, England. The label was established in 1979 by David Wood, who was the owner of Impulse Studios in Wallsend, Tyne and Wear, England. A key figure in the establishment of the label was Steve Thompson. Thompson was house producer at Impulse at the time and helped set up Neat, became the A&R manager and produced all the initial recordings, as well as managing the publishing arm, Neat Music. The label was sold in 1995 to Sanctuary Records.

Russ North is an English rock vocalist. His father was a singer around the North of England who worked under the stage name Dave Thorne from the 1950s up until his death in 2000, Russ' brother Dale North is also a singer, songwriter and a film maker. North is best known for his role in the heavy metal band Cloven Hoof. North had several stints with Cloven Hoof, from 1987 to 1990, and again from 2006 to 2009.In 2011 Russ was asked back with the band only to leave for the final time in 2012 under bizarre circumstances.

Salem UK is a hard rock/heavy metal band from Hull, England. It was formed following the split of the new wave of British heavy metal band Ethel the Frog. Salem recorded three demos and a single in the early 1980s; a compilation album of these recordings was released in 2010.
