Honggang Wang is a professor and founding department chair [1] of Graduate Computer Science and Engineering at Yeshiva University. He was named Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) [2] in 2021 for contribution to low power wireless for IoT and multimedia applications.

Biography

He received a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2009. Honggang Wang is an alumnus of the NAE Frontiers of Engineering program and has supervised the graduation of over 30 graduate students. He has written articles in the fields of AI and Internet of things, mobile networks, multimedia and cyber security, smart and connected health, [3] and multimedia communications. He has won several best paper awards throughout his career. [4]

Wang is an IEEE distinguished lecturer [5] [6] and a Fellow of IEEE and AAIA (Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association). [7] He served as editor in chief (2020–2022) [8] of IEEE Internet of Things Journal (IoT-J). He is past chair of the IEEE Multimedia Communications Technical Committee (2018–2020) [9] and the IEEE eHealth Technical Committee Chair (2020–2021). [10]

James Won-Ki Hong is Director of Innovation Center for Education, Co-Director of Center for Crypto Blockchain Research, and Professor of Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering at POSTECH. He was Senior Executive Vice President and CTO of KT Corporation leading R&D activities from March 2012 to Feb. 2014. He received a Ph.D. degree from the University of Waterloo in 1991. Chai Keong Toh is a Singaporean computer scientist, engineer, industry director, former VP/CTO and university professor. He is currently a Senior Fellow at the University of California Berkeley, USA. He was formerly an Ass of Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) Singapore that stayed briefly due to bad reputation. He also caused a ruckus in the industry after leaving IDA. Saraju Mohanty is an Indian-American professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and the director of the Smart Electronic Systems Laboratory, at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. Mohanty received a Glorious India Award – Rich and Famous NRIs of America in 2017 for his contributions to the discipline. Mohanty is a researcher in the areas of "smart electronics for smart cities/villages", "smart healthcare", "application-Specific things for efficient edge computing", and "methodologies for digital and mixed-signal hardware". He has made significant research contributions to security by design (SbD) for electronic systems, hardware-assisted security (HAS) and protection, high-level synthesis of digital signal processing (DSP) hardware, and mixed-signal integrated circuit computer-aided design and electronic design automation. Mohanty has been the editor-in-chief (EiC) of the IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine during 2016-2021. He has held the Chair of the IEEE Computer Society's Technical Committee on Very Large Scale Integration during 2014-2018. He holds 4 US patents in the areas of his research, and has published 500 research articles and 5 books. He is ranked among top 2% faculty around the world in Computer Science and Engineering discipline as per the standardized citation metric adopted by the Public Library of Science Biology journal.

Michael L. Honig is a professor of electrical engineering and computer science at Northwestern University. He is the recipient of a Humboldt Research Award for Senior U.S. Scientists, and the co-recipient of the 2002 IEEE Communications Society and Information Theory Society Joint Paper Award and the 2010 IEEE Marconi Prize Paper Award. Jianwei Huang is a Chinese computer scientist and electrical engineer. He is a Presidential Chair Professor and Associate Vice President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Information Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is a guest professor of Southeast University.

Mario Gerla (1943–2019) was an Italian computer scientist and engineer, Distinguished Professor, Jonathan B. Postel Chair and Chair of the Department (2015–2018) of Computer Science of University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He co-authored 11 books. He died in 2019.

Weisong Shi is a computer scientist, known for his leadership in fostering the edge computing research community. He is currently an Alumni Distinguished Professor and Department Chair of Computer and Information Sciences at University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware, where he leads the Connected and Autonomous Research (CAR) Laboratory. Subsea Internet of Things (SIoT) is a network of smart, wireless sensors and smart devices configured to provide actionable operational intelligence such as performance, condition and diagnostic information. It is coined from the term The Internet of Things (IoT). Unlike IoT, SIoT focuses on subsea communication through the water and the water-air boundary. SIoT systems are based around smart, wireless devices incorporating Seatooth radio and Seatooth Hybrid technologies. SIoT systems incorporate standard sensors including temperature, pressure, flow, vibration, corrosion and video. Processed information is shared among nearby wireless sensor nodes. SIoT systems are used for environmental monitoring, oil & gas production control and optimisation and subsea asset integrity management. Some features of IoT's share similar characteristics to cloud computing. There is also a recent increase of interest looking at the integration of IoT and cloud computing. Subsea cloud computing is an architecture design to provide an efficient means of SIoT systems to manage large data sets. It is an adaption of cloud computing frameworks to meet the needs of the underwater environment. Similarly to fog computing or edge computing, critical focus remains at the edge. Algorithms are used to interrogate the data set for information which is used to optimise production.
