The Hoofdklasse is the second highest domestic cricket competition in the Netherlands. Eight teams play in the regular competition.

HVV is an amateur football club in The Hague, Netherlands. It was founded in 1883 as an extension of HCC, (The) Hague Cricket Club. In 1978, on the occasion of the club's centenary, Queen Juliana granted the club royal patronage, with prefix Koninklijke ("Royal"), because of its pioneering role in sport, including in the formation of the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) in 1889. Since then it has been called Koninklijke Haagse Cricket & Voetbal Vereniging, abbreviated KHC&VV. The club's grounds since 1898 have been at the 1,200-capacity "De Diepput", on the border between Benoordenhout and Wassenaar. It now also plays tennis, squash and judo and has around 1750 members.

HBS Craeyenhout is an omnisports club based in The Hague that fields teams in association football, cricket and hockey. The club is best known for its football team, which is one of the original clubs of Dutch football, and three times national champions. The football club refused to enter into professionalism in the 1950s and has played at the amateur level ever since. It currently plays in the Vierde Divisie, the fifth tier of the Dutch football league system.

The Topklasse is the highest domestic 50-over cricket competition in the Netherlands.

The 2013 SMT Shipping Topklasse season is contested between eight teams playing in one single division. Each team plays all the others in their division both home and away.
At the end of the 2013 season, HBS Craeyenhout relegated to Hoofdklasse. At the end of the three final matches H.V. & C.V. QUICK became the 2013 Topklasse champion with VRA being the runner-up.

The Dutch Twenty20 Cup is a Twenty20 cricket league in the Netherlands, run by the Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond since 2007. Currently, the league consists of 16 teams, divided into two divisions of five teams and one division of six teams.

The 2014 SMT Shipping Topklasse cricket season is contested between eight teams playing in one single division. The competition will take place in two phases. In Phase I the teams will play an entire competition meeting each other two times while in phase II the top four and the bottom four will meet each other one time during a half competition. The competition will end with a "best out of three" final.

The 2014–15 Topklasse season was the fifth season of the third tier Dutch football league. A total of 32 teams participated: 24 from the 2012–13 Topklasse, and the remaining eight from the 2013–14 Hoofdklasse. As usual, the competition is divided into two leagues: "Saturday" and "Sunday", who differ by the day their games are usually played.

The 2015–16 Topklasse season was the sixth and last edition of the Dutch third tier since its inauguration in the current form in 2010. A total 32 teams participated in the league: 25 from the 2014–15 Topklasse, and the remaining seven from the 2014–15 Hoofdklasse. As usual, the competition was divided into two leagues: "Saturday" and "Sunday", who differed by the day their games were usually played.

Walther Braithwaite was a Surinamese football manager and player who played as a midfielder and left-back in the Surinamese Hoofdklasse for Transvaal and Voorwaarts. He also managed the Suriname national team for the nation's 1978 and 1986 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaigns, finishing in eighth place in the finals in Mexico in the 1978 edition.

Thabiso Enoch Nkwe is a South African cricket coach and former first class cricketer. He played 42 first class and 38 List A matches for Lions and Gauteng between 2002 and 2009 before becoming a coach. He is Cricket South Africa Director of Cricket.

The 2017–18 season of the Hoofdklasse was played in four leagues, two Saturday leagues and two Sunday leagues. The champions of each group promote directly to the 2018–19 Derde Divisie. The 2017–18 Hoofdklasse started on Saturday 2 September 2017.

The 2018–19 Derde Divisie season was the third in the new Dutch fourth tier. They played before that in the Topklasse, until the restructuring of the Dutch football league system in the summer of 2016.

The 2019–20 season of the Hoofdklasse was played in four leagues, two Saturday leagues and two Sunday leagues. The champions of each league were to be promoted directly to the 2020–21 Derde Divisie; other teams could have been promoted through playoffs. The exact division of the 2019–20 Hoofdklasse competitions was published on 1 July 2019. The 2019–20 Hoofdklasse started on Saturday 31 August 2019.
