Minnetonka is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. A western suburb of the Twin Cities, Minnetonka is located about 10 miles (16 km) west of downtown Minneapolis. At the 2020 census, the city's population was 53,781.

During the 2004–05 season, Wendell set an NCAA record for most short-handed goals in one season, with seven. Hopkins School District 270 is a public school district in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The district is one of the larger districts in the state, and covers all of Hopkins, Minnesota as well as parts of Minnetonka, Golden Valley, Eden Prairie, Edina, Plymouth, and St. Louis Park. The district is strong athletically, having won numerous state championships. Both Boy's and Girl's basketball are particularly strong, having won multiple state titles. Hopkins School District offers a K-12 Mandarin Chinese immersion program, which attracts students from within the district and from other school districts.

A part of the Mounds View Public Schools district, the high school is located in a suburban area approximately nine miles north of downtown Minneapolis and Saint Paul and includes seven cities with 76,193 residents. As of 2014–15 the school had an enrollment of 1735, with a student/teacher ratio of 21.81. The school's enrollment by race/ethnicity breaks down as follows: Asian 13.2%; Black 3.6%; Hispanic 2.6%; White 79.2%; Other 1.4%. It includes grades 9–12 and was founded in 1955. It is one of two high schools that are in the Mounds View Public school district (621), the other being Irondale High School. Most residents of Mounds View, Minnesota, actually attend Irondale High School.
