Seyffert had originally penned the track for Birkenes to record, but her label rejected it and it was eventually given to Lena. Despite being born in the central region that became, in October 1949, the German Democratic Republic, her adult life and political career were conducted in West Germany where she served as a member of parliament between 1976 and 1987.
