Houshang Golmakani is an Iranian journalist, film critic and director. He was born in Gorgan on March 23, 1954. Houshang Golmakani started his professional career in 1972 as a journalist and film critic for Tehran Economist. He graduated in cinema and television from the College of Dramatic Arts of Tehran in 1982.

He is one of the three founders of Film (Iranian magazine) , the oldest post-revolutionary film magazine in Iran (founded in 1982 with Massoud Mehrabi and Abbas Yari). [1] In 1993, Film (Iranian magazine) began to print an English version of the magazine for its international readers, FILM International, the only English magazine solely about Iranian cinema. [2]

Houshang Golmakani is also a writer and a director. He directed a documentary about the life and works of Mohsen Makhmalbaf, STARDUST-STRICKEN; Mohsen Makhmalbaf: A Portrait (1996). [3] He writes books about cinema and translate screenplays. [4]

Abbas Yari is an iranian journalist and film critic. He was born in Arak in 1951. He graduated as a cameraman at the Superior School of Cinema in 1975. Abbas Yari started his professional career as a journalist, and worked until 1981 for the newspapers Sobh e Emrouz, Tehran Mosavvar and Kayhan. In 1968, while still a student, he presided the cultural foundation for youth in his hometown, Arak, being responsible of organizing journalistic, poetry, theater and lectures related events. <i>The Gardener</i> (2012 film) 2013 British film

The Gardener is a documentary film by Mohsen Makhmalbaf. It had its Asian premiere at Busan International Film Festival, its European premiere at Rotterdam International Film Festival, and North American premiere at the Vancouver International Film Festival. It is the first film in decades to be made by an Iranian filmmaker in Israel. The film has been shown in more than 20 film festivals and won the Best Documentary award from Beirut International Film Festival and the special Maverick Award at the Motovun Film Festival in Croatia. The film was selected as "Critic's Pick of the Week" by New York Film Critics Circle, "Best of the Fest" at Busan Film Festival by The Hollywood Reporter, and "Top Ten Films" at Mumbai Film Festival by Times of India, and its script was added to the Library of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Aziz Sa'ati,, born in Tehran in 1948, Sa'ati graduated from the School-of Television and Cinema with a specialty in cinematography and videography. After teaching courses on photography and laboratory work at the School, he began his professional career as a still photographer on the set of Bahram Beizai's THE CROW. Sa'ati brought a new seriousness and artistic capability to the job of set photographer, and he is noted for upgrading the standards of that position. He worked as set photographer for many of Iran's best known directors. His set photographs have won many awards and been featured in major exhibitions.
