The Westheimer Street Festival was a community street fair held bi-annually in Houston, Texas, United States from approximately 1971 to 2004. The festival underwent name and management changes afterwards. By 2009 the street festival was absorbed into what is currently now known as the Free Press Summer Fest.

Cinco de Mayo is an annual celebration held on May 5. The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican Army's victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza. According to an article in the Houston Chronicle, Ifest announced in June 2014 that it was seeking Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection, making it clear that the 2014 fest would be the last ever festival.

YpsiFest is a festival in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Held each year on the 4th weekend of August, the festival sprawls across Frog Island Park, Riverside Park, and historic Depot Town. The SweetWater 420 Fest is an annual event presented by SweetWater Brewing Company in Atlanta, Georgia held on a weekend closest to Earth Day. In 2014, the festival announced it would be celebrating its 10th anniversary at its new home in Centennial Olympic Park.
Beer has been produced in Armenia since ancient times. In the 5th century BCE, after arriving at a village in Ancient Armenia, Xenophon wrote in the Anabasis that "There were stored wheat, barley, vegetables, and barley wine in the craters. In upper level of vessels with the edges in the wine floated barley, and there was stuck a reed, large and small sizes and who wanted to drink, had to take a reed in his mouth and pull it through the wine. Not mixed with water, the wine was very strong, but for local people it was a very pleasant drink".
The WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival is considered to be the third longest running and oldest independent film and video festival in the world. Founded in 1968 as the International Film Society, the event is held annually in April. Notable festival alumni include John Lee Hancock, who wrote and directed the Oscar-winning film The Blind Side, as well as Steven Spielberg, Randal Kleiser, Ang Lee and David Winning. The festival takes place over the course of 10 days.
As of the 2010 U.S. Census there were 11,813 ethnic Koreans in Harris County, Texas, in the Houston area, making up 4.2% of the county's Asian population. In 2015 Haejin E. Koh, author of "Korean Americans in Houston: Building Bridges across Cultures and Generations," wrote in regards to the census figure that "community leaders believe the number is twice as large."

Much of the talk following the first Houston Beer Fest last year was how the organizers needed help. The fest's producers said they planned for 10,000 beer lovers and when more than 20,000 showed up, well, it was a bad brew.
