The Houw Hoek Hotel, previously called the Houw Hoek Inn, is a hotel on the N2 national road between Grabouw and Botrivier in South Africa, close to the summit of the Houwhoek Pass, on the Overberg branch line. It is one of the oldest licensed hotels in the country, with a ground floor dating from 1779. [1] [2]

From there they developed three additional hotels in Andover, Massachusetts by 1992, Somerville, Massachusetts in 2000 and Manchester, New Hampshire in 2003. In 2004, the Tagliente Family decided to sell their hotels to the La Quinta Hotel Corporation for US$26 Million. La Quinta subsequently converted the hotels to La Quinta Hotels & Suites.
The Mayfair Inn Open was a PGA Tour event that was played for four years in the 1950s. The Mayfair Inn was a 155-room resort hotel on the shores of Lake Monroe in Sanford, Florida known for its opulence and isolation. The PGA Tour event was played in mid-December from 1955–1958 at the Mayfair Country Club, some distance from the hotel. Total prize money was $15,000. The hotel closed in the early 1960s.

Houwhoek Pass is a pass on the N2 national road between Grabouw and Botrivier in the Western Cape province of South Africa. The pass is a dual carriageway and the summit is at 340m above sea level. The Overberg branch line as well as the gravel road of the old Houwhoek Pass are nearby, following a similar route but closer to the Jakkals River. The Houw Hoek Hotel and Houw Hoek Farm Stall are close to the summit of the pass.

It was produced by Travelfilm Company and McMar, Ltd/28 and was produced and written by Garry McGee and Lucille Carra and directed by Lucille Carra. Researched and filmed over a seven-year period, the film is the only video record of the distressed condition of the hotel. The film explores the history of the Mason City Bank and Hotel Commission (1908) as well as the struggles of the rural city of Mason City, Iowa to restore the Park Inn Hotel, which, along with the City National Bank, was a rare example of a Prairie School style mixed-use structure by Wright.
