The album received generally positive reviews from critics. Gavin Brown of Distorted Sound scored the album 8 out of 10 and called the album "that not only celebrates Primordial as a band from start to finish, as well as their history and their legacy, but it also salutes everything that they stand for, and the fact that they are still here doing this after all these years must be appreciated and applauded in equal measure." [8] New Noise Magazine rated the album 4 out of 5 and said: "The first half of How It Ends exemplifies exactly what makes Primordial so revered. It makes the unlikely combination of black metal and Irish folk not only work, but seem like an extremely natural combination. Primordial was the first band to reach that conclusion, as they have demonstrated over nine albums. Here, their rebellious attitude truly shines. Nemtheanga has stated that this might be the beginning of the end for the band. If that is the case, How It Ends can hold its head high with The Gathering Wilderness and To the Nameless Dead as being amongst the band's best releases." [10]

Anthrax is an American thrash metal band from New York City, formed in 1981 by rhythm guitarist Scott Ian and bassist Dan Lilker. The group is considered one of the leaders of the thrash metal scene from the 1980s and is part of the "Big Four" of the genre, along with Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer. They were also one of the first thrash metal bands to emerge from the East Coast. The band's current lineup consists of Scott Ian, drummer Charlie Benante, bassist Frank Bello, vocalist Joey Belladonna and lead guitarist Jonathan Donais. Anthrax's lineup has changed numerous times over their career, leaving Ian as the only constant member of the band. Ian and Benante are the only two members to appear on all of Anthrax's albums, while Bello has been a member of Anthrax since 1984, replacing Lilker.
Primordial are an Irish extreme metal band from Skerries, County Dublin. The band was formed in 1993 by bassist Pól MacAmhlaigh and guitarist Ciarán MacUiliam. Their sound blends black metal with Celtic music.
Make Them Suffer is an Australian metalcore band from Perth, formed in 2008. They are currently signed to SharpTone Records. Their debut studio album, Neverbloom, peaked at No. 56 on the ARIA Album charts in June 2012, and showcased the band's earlier mix of metalcore, blackened death metal, and symphonic metal. Its follow-up Old Souls debuted at No. 30 upon release in May 2015 and displayed the band beginning to transition from death/black metal to a more progressive metalcore sound. After the band signed with Rise Records, the label released an expanded version of Old Souls in August 2016, containing also an EP from their death metal era Lord of Woe and a new track, "Ether". Despite the name, the band is not named after the Cannibal Corpse song of the same name.
To the Nameless Dead is the sixth studio album by Irish extreme metal band Primordial, released in 2007. It is also available in a limited edition as a digibook, featuring a different cover design, a 40-page booklet, and a bonus DVD. The album was recorded at Foel Studio, Wales, with producer Chris Fielding. It was recorded using all analog equipment and using mostly first or second takes for the final recording, making for a more raw and spontaneous sound.

The band released their debut album A Mind Waiting to Die in 2023, which they supported with performances at the 2000trees, Download, Reading & Leeds and Misery Loves Company festivals. Their second album, Who Are You When No One is Watching?, will be released on 12 July 2024.
Underdark are a British black metal band from Nottingham, England, formed in 2015 by guitarists Ollie Jones and Adam Kinson and drummer Dan Hallam. The band's current lineup consists of Jones, Kinson, bassist Stephen "Stig" Waterfield, vocalist Abi Vasquez and drummer Daniel Blackmore. The band's sound has been categorized under the "post-black metal" label. The band's anti-fascist beliefs, which they have held since their inception, have led to them being associated with the "anti-fascist black metal" and Red and Anarchist Black Metal (RABM) movements, although they do not consider themselves to be a "political band".
