Howard Michael Endelman [1] [2] (born July 30, 1965) [1] is a former American lawyer, professional tennis player, businessman, and tennis coach.

Biography

Endelman, who grew up on New York's Long Island, played collegiate tennis at Columbia University, before turning professional in 1987. [3]

Most of his matches on the professional tour were as a doubles player, reaching a career best doubles ranking of 183. His best performances on the Grand Prix circuit were quarter-finals appearances at Boston and Schenectady in 1988, partnering John Sobel on both occasions. He competed in the main draw of the men's doubles at the 1988 US Open, with Peter Palandjian. [4]

Education and career

Retiring after the 1989 season, Endelman served as head coach of the women's tennis team at Columbia until 1992. He then studied at Boston College and graduated with a J.D. After practicing law for three years at the international law firm of Clifford, Chance, Rogers & Wells, he later moved on to a business career, which included positions as a Vice President in investment banking at Merrill Lynch from 1998 to 2005, an Executive Vice President at InsideOut Sports & Entertainment from 2005 to 2007, and as a founding partner of Baseline Partners, a private equity investment firm based in India from 2007 to 2010. From 2010 until 2019 he was the associate head coach of the Columbia men's tennis team. [6] He assumed the mantle of head coach in 2019 after head coach Bid Goswami retired.

During his professional career, he won two singles and two doubles ATP tour titles, and reached the mixed doubles final at the 1992 French Open, partnering Lori McNeil. Shelton played collegiately for Georgia Tech from 1985 to 1988, and then played professionally from 1989 to 1997. He subsequently returned to his alma mater to coach the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women's tennis team, which won the NCAA Women's Tennis Championship in 2007. He then served as the head coach of the Florida Gators men's tennis team of the University of Florida, where he coached the Gators to winning the 2021 NCAA Championship. He is the only head coach to have won a national championship in both men and women's NCAA Division I Tennis.

Larry Nagler is an American former college and professional tennis player. In college, Nagler played on the UCLA Bruins men's basketball team for Hall of Fame coach John Wooden in 1958 and 1959. In tennis, he was the 1960 NCAA Tennis Singles Champion, and a 1960 NCAA Tennis Doubles Champion, with teammate Allen Fox. He also played doubles with Arthur Ashe, winning the 1962 Pennsylvania Lawn Tennis Championships. Nagler was a three-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) First-Team All-American (1960-62), and was the only player to ever win three Pac-10 men's singles titles (1960-62). In 1962 he was ranked 11th in the United States in singles. He played singles in the 1964 Wimbledon Championships and played doubles in the 1964 Wimbledon Championships with Allen Fox. At the 1977 Maccabiah Games in Israel, he and Steve Krulevitz won gold medals in doubles for the United States, and he won a silver medal in men's singles. Nagler was inducted into the ITA Hall of Fame and the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame.
