Huasacocha (possibly from Quechua wasa the human back or the back of an animal, qucha lake, [2] "back lake") is a mountain at a small lake of the same name in the Vilcanota mountain range in the Andes of Peru, about 5,400 metres (17,717 ft) high. It lies in the Cusco Region, Canchis Province, Pitumarca District, and in the Quispicanchi Province, in the districts Cusipata and Ocongate. Huasacocha is situated south-west of the mountain Sorimani and north of the mountain Jatunrritioc. There are two small lakes south-east of the mountain named Quiullacocha ("gull lake") and Surini. The human back is the large posterior area of the human body, rising from the top of the buttocks to the back of the neck and the shoulders. It is the surface of the body opposite from the chest. The vertebral column runs the length of the back and creates a central area of recession. The breadth of the back is created by the shoulders at the top and the pelvis at the bottom.

The Andes or Andean Mountains are the longest continental mountain range in the world, forming a continuous highland along the western edge of South America. The lake Huasacocha lies south-west of the peak at 13°51′41″S71°19′08″W / 13.86139°S 71.31889°W / -13.86139; -71.31889 . The river Pucamayo ("red river") originates at the lake. It flows to the west as a right tributary of the Vilcanota River. [1]

Urubamba River river in Peru

The Urubamba River or Vilcamayo River is a river in Peru. Upstream it is called Vilcanota River. Within the La Convención Province the naming changes to Urubamba. A partially navigable headwater of the Amazon River, it rises in the Andes to the southeast of Cuzco. It originates on the slopes of Khunurana in the Puno Region, Melgar Province, near the La Raya pass. It flows north-north-west for 724 kilometers before coalescing with the Tambo River to form the Ucayali River.

Yanajaja mountain in Peru

Yanajaja is a mountain in the Vilcanota mountain range in the Andes of Peru, about 5,550 m (18,210 ft) high. It is situated in the Cusco Region, Canchis Province, Pitumarca District and in the Quispicanchi Province, Ocongate District. Yanajaja lies south of the peak of Q'ampa, southwest of Callangate, west of the river Chillcamayu, and east of Ausangate, close to Chilinita.

Chuallani lies west of the lake Sibinacocha, south of the mountain Cóndor Tuco. The river Chuamayu which originates northeast of Chuallani flows along its eastern slopes. It belongs to the watershed of the Vilcanota River.

Ananta is a mountain in the Vilcanota mountain range in the Andes of Peru, about 5,200 metres (17,060 ft) high. It is located in the Cusco Region, Quispicanchi Province, Marcapata District. It lies northeast of the higher peak of Pajo Ananta.
