In May 2009, Hugo knocked an undefeated Jacobo Castro and won the Mexican Pacific Coast Light Welterweight Championship. [2]

WBA Fedecentro Championship

On October 29, 2010 Valdez beat the veteran Felipe Gonzalez to win the WBA Fedecentro Welterweight Championship. [3]
